I would recommend to anyone interested in de Portago's life, to read his biography

Marquis de Portago - The Legend
written by Ed Donough, with Foreword by Sir Stirling Moss

I read it year ago when it was first published, and I was very impressed by the hero figure he was.
His tragic death crowned a meteoric life.
Enzo Ferrari mentioned him in his memoirs: Mes Joies Terribles.

To be pedantic, I would add that de Portago never flew under London Bridge, like the article says, but under Tower Bridge in London.
These 2 bridges are often confused.
The old London Bridge was even sold to a gullible American once, who thought he had bought Tower Bridge !!!

I think he reconstructed it in the desert in Arizona.
