....the GranTourismo S is simply astonishing! I wasnt sure what to expect when I got into the car but 5 seconds later when that V8 fired up I knew this car was something special....this is what the car should have been from the begining...the normal GranTourismo is a great car...the S is a astonishing car...the ride, the gearbox and that engine note conspire to create and experience that for me is hard to put into words....

I wont even try....let these two vids do the talking....suffice to say if I had an S the windows would be down all the time.

Great sound, I think better than the GrandSport and that is a HUGE compliment.

I drove the GT S a couple of months ago and was afraid Maserati built a car that would appeal to very few people. On one hand, the Gran Turismo has a very pleasant ride, nicely subdued sound eminating from the engine and exhaust, good brakes, nice steering feel, seats that are more than supportive for what little agressive driving an owner is likely to put the car through, etc, etc. But in their attempt to make a sports car out of a tremendous grand tourer they made a car that was too stiffly sprung, an exhaust note that while it sounded great also garnered the attention of every Fast n Furious driver in a 10 block radius...this was a step backwards, IMO.

Fast forward to today where I was able to put a GT S through its paces with the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Maserati Club (I will post a few photos soon)...this car is absolutely fantastic!!! Maserati provided our dealership one of their press cars for a week- long ride and drive for our prospects, in fact, this was the EXACT car I drove a few months ago and can't believe how dramatically diifferent my impressions of this car are the second time around. The MC Shift gearbox shifts superbly (with the exception of parking lot speeds) the exhaust note IS obnoxious when in "sport" mode but it just sounds soooo sexy that everytime I pulled alongside a car they always had a huge grin on their face. The suspension is firm but able to nicely handle large bumps in the road, even when the road gets curvy the chassis remained composed and never did I feel like the car was in over it's head. I would also guess it would make a nice DD if you keep it out of the "sport" mode (for the most part ;))

I have never had such positive reactions from bystanders while I was behind the wheel of this car...I could go on and on quoting the funny things I overheard people say to eachother and straight to my face about this Maserati. I wouldn't necessarily use that as a measuring stick to gauge the popularity of a car but it's nice to know people are beginning to recognize and appreciate the Trident :) If you haven't driven this car yet and you're in the market for a grand touring car with a bit of an edge, you owe yourself to take one for a drive. There really isn't anything else on the road quite like it :)

The next Maser will be the SCS. Spontaneous Combustion Chamber, flashback of Biturbo days.
Saw the demo at Bentley Dallas this week. It is a striking car. Beautiful lines, can't be mistaken for all the other wedges on 4 tires we are seeing at every intersection.. Rob, what color is yours?
