I owned 3 different US spec "8"'s and they all had dual mirrors, not sure why yours didn't.

But it's got a sunroof! So many used car ads told me that it's a U.S. spec only option :)

Note the pic has the black side grills, characteristic of a very early 8, not a QV.

My '81 Euro Mondi 8 (#36813) has two. It also has something else that I haven't yet seen on ANY other Mondial (US or Euro versions): Yellow fog lights....

Before any "purists" chime in: Yes, the car has been resprayed, including the bumpers. That's how it was when I purchased it...

But I'm not sure if the fog lights are original....does anyone know? I need a new lense, because one is cracked...

My car ('83 QV) has clear lamps but they're not 'fog' lights but rather, daytime flashing lights.

Yellow fog lights = originally a French market car.

    ABOUT PURIST..... and RESPRAY.........

i see different mondial 8 and QV,
The colors really different.......painted different in maranello......! and i ask maranello about these
some made original in maranello, the buyer ASK THE COLOR

    1) Black Bumper, Black Intake air , Black front air intake !

    2) Black Bumper, Red intake air , Red Front air intake!

    3) Red Bumper, Red intake Air, Red Front air intake (more of converbile are red original bumper)

    4) Red Bumper with black line, Red intake Air, Red front intake air

    4) Boxer Paint (option same as bb and 208) Black Bumper, Red Intake air, Red front intake, Bi-color Blak/red BB paint

Every Single CAr HANDMADE by Maranello factory,

Other version like MONOSPECCHIO mirror one outside, WOOD STEERING, yes not nard but wood steering,

More have number of production printed on steering, the first NOT

Only 703 produced of 8 , EVERY SINGLE CAR DIFFERENT

    NEVERMIND!!!!!!

I must respray my car........ bumper are cracked from sun, sure i respray RED CORSA, and i'm sure that Ferrari Made ferrari mondi8 and ferrari 4v With RED BUMPER

Maybe if you add a WING or A turbo, not a purist, but if repaint the car with maranello color , OKK :D

I should have known that...remember as a kid in Switzerland that all French cars had yellow headlights...indeed, my Mondi's "history" in Germany only starts in 1984, when it was first registered there....

BTW Erik....I love your article in VeloceToday - it is very objective and well written. It helped "heal the wounds" infliced upon me after reading some of the "expert" write-ups in German magazines (AFTER purchasing my Mondi)...

That one is weird (I recall seeing it as a vehicle in Dubai or elsewhere in the Middle East).

This is the weird part: The single mirror is on the right side, i.e. an RHD car. But the "fog lights" are yellow (a French "specialty").

Glad it helped. When judged against what they were designed to do, Mondials are great cars. They should have called the new California the Nuovo Mondial, which is really what it is.
