Forest Gump
I love the Marx Bros. My dad used to buy movies based on certain themes; he bought every Mel Brooks movie he could find, every Marx Brothers movie he could find, and all of his favorite sports movies. One of my favorite scenes wasn't funny, but incredibly cool - I forget which movie it was in, but I think they were on a boat (maybe it was Duck Soup???) and Harpo was playing the harp, then someone was playing the piano. It really highlights how talented those guys were. Gotta love em.
I disagree, Cruise has clout. And I don't think anyone in film has worked with a more impressive lineup of directors than Tom Cruise. Steven Speilberg Stanley Kubrick Martin Scorsese Francis Ford Coppola Oliver Stone John Woo Ridley Scott Paul Thomas Anderson Barry Levinson Brian Depalma Ron Howard Sydney Pollack Cameron Crowe Rob Reiner Neil Jordan
The Quiet Man /John Wayne Forbidden Planet War of the Worlds (original) Once Upon a Time in the West Gunfight at the OK Carral (Lancaster/Douglas) As Good as it Gets
A few classics that (i think) have not been mentioned: The Third Man Sunset Blvd. Rebecca But, if i had to pick just one, it would probably be Casablanca. While i love Sergio Leone, The Unforgiven is, to me, the ultimate Western. Horror: Night of the Living Dead Honorable Mention: Pulp Fiction There are just too many...
1. JAWS (scared the entire country out of the water for 3 months) As a kid my dad dragged me to Jaws, Alien, and Apocaypse Now... all in a row, in what seems like one long gory year for a kid under the age of 10. 2. Preditor ( cool bunch of guys, great idea ) 3. Patton 4. Pulp Fiction- "you ever give a man a foot massage?" 5. Aliens 2 (best action movie) 6. Animal House 7. True Romance
Tough to pick. Here're a few I won't change the channel on - Monty Python and the Holy Grail Bottle Rocket Sling Blade American Graffiti On Any Sunday Goodfellas Pulp Fiction Dogtown and Z-Boys Magnolia Caddyshack Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Here it was just called The Professional, right? And in Europe just "Leon"? I am pretty sure I was not the only one who felt more than a little uneasy with how attractive the 13 year old (or so) Natalie Portman was. What are the differences between the U.S. and Euro editions?
best film I have ever watched was a mini series not a movie. Band of Brothers.Best movies Godfather I and II Stand by me.
Just saw "Boondock Saints" and loved it; for a serious action-esque film it was funny and it had a plot-- and a good one at that. Boiler Room, Snatch, Goodfellas and Usual Supects are my favorite movies..
Steve McQueen rocks and the car chase is classic, but don't you think the rest of movie is extremely slow?
it seems too unfair to just name one..... Comedy: Big Lebowski, Midnight Run, Life of Brian War : The Great Escape, Full Metal Jacket SciFi : 2001, Brazil, Matrix Movie with Car chase: Ronin Silly Movie: Dumb & Dumber
"Here it was just called The Professional, right? And in Europe just "Leon"? I am pretty sure I was not the only one who felt more than a little uneasy with how attractive the 13 year old (or so) Natalie Portman was. Yup. Same issue in Beautifull Girls Casablanca ("louis, I think this is the beginning of a great friedship"; "Gambling in my city?? I'm shocked!" "round up the usual suspects") To Kill a Mockingbird ("stand up children - your fathers passing") Used Cars (How much for that 1975 Mercedes 450 SL? 25 thousand dollars??!!! That's TOOOOO F*$%king much!!") Godfather trilogy Schindler's list As Good As it Gets ("you make me want to be a better man") African Queen King of Hearts The Usual Suspects
