Just bought an F430 then found out the car had a rear end impact with another vehicle. I could not get the carfax report for days so I talked directly with the dealer. Did not get any indication at the time that the car was in the repair shop back when it was only 14 days old. After I hung up the phone, felt really good, because the dealer was a very very respectable dealer as most of us fchatters here would agreed. Bought the car sight unseen, because it still have a year and a half of it's factory warranty left.

Just as murphy's law would have it. I went to AutoCheck and was able to get the report history of the car. That's when I found out. Just got off the phone with the dealer and more confused than ever. I'm confused because of my love for the car and the hatred that she is tainted.

I'm still be able to reject the purchase after I asked the dealer about this. He said it was very minor, and he said he will give me the repaired work order. The rear bumper just needed to be repainted that's all. He know the car since new.

Well, now you see why I'm so twisted inside? What should I do? Six years of searching and so much determination. She has all the things that I wanted! Well should I start the search again?

Why don't you see if the dealer will give you a discount on the car. This way you would have the car you love and still feel good about the purchase.

I recently saw a brand new 612 Sesenta with the rear bumper off at a body shop. The owner of the shop said the buyer bought the car then found out that the rear bumper had been patched. He said body repairs are common on new cars due to damage incurred during transport. They are repaired at the factory after production, and they are repaired at the port of entry. For example, there is a shop at a certain port that repairs 300 BMWs PER DAY as they come off the ships.

Ask yourself one question. What are you upset about? Purchasing the car without disclosure of the accident because you didn't get the CarFax? Do you feel someone deliberately withheld the accident history? Do you feel the accident changes the inherent quality of the car? I would take one look at the car and ask myself, "can [you] live with the knowledge of the car's imperfection?" If you can't, sell the car back. If you honestly love the car you'll keep it. Truth be known, many high end cars are slightly damaged and repaired in transit to your local dealer. By the title of your thread, you seem to be caught in the emotion of discovering the accident history. You might want to revert to an objective analysis of the accident (e.g. impact speed, parts repaired, warranty implications [if any]). Have the car independently inspected in reference to the repair receipt. If the repair have been done properly relax and celebrate the fact that you know potentially more about your car than others.

If this is showing up as an accident on AutoChek then I'd try to get out of it.(this negative can haunt the car come resale time, just like what's happening now) It sounds like the dealer is downplaying what happened. AutoCheck doesn't just report little paint work jobs. Good luck.

It is a bummer that this information was not disclosed to you. Having said that, if it is only a rear bumper repaint, then, as the Italians say (and I am full blooded), fhaggetaboudit! I've had my front bumper repainted twice just to get rid of tiny rock chips, and am going to get my back bumper repainted because of a blemish under the exhaust pipes the size of my fingernail. Oh, and going to get the side skirts reshot as well because of tiny rock chips. Now if there were any structural/mechanical damage, then it would be another story altogether.

It's not the fact of the discounts, it's not the car I thought I searched and found. Just like Yayo5 puts it. Can I live with the fact that she's flawed. I think I'll make my decision after I see the repaired work order that the dealer said he will get it for me. Man it's a harsh world, can't even dream up a perfect fantasy.

I wouldn't get it simply because I couldn't trust the dealer. What other surprises are in store? I would at the least get an independent body shop or a PPI for evaluation. There's so many 430's out there now, just curious what makes this one so special?

The fact that you have to ask means you should leave it. Your ownership experience will be tainted by your knowledge of the accident. You will enjoy your next car much more if you're 100% satisfied with it.

I would be careful with damaged cars. repainted bumpers, well np. Changed bodyparts, problem. Check the documentation, that the dealer doesn´t tell You starts a bell ringing imo.

Discuss the matter with the dealer in person and check the orignal work orders. If it was only a bumper fiberglass repair and a respray, that is not a problem at all, it happens all the time and it does not effect the value of the car. If there was any metal body work, that's a different story.

+1. IMO,should also offer you a discount for the aggravation; and no harm in asking for $ back.

If this bothers you now, it'll continue to bother you and you'll always feel like you have a less-than-perfect car.

And as others have said, if this accident/repair work shows up on CarFax or AutoCheck... it'll haunt you again when you go to sell the car.

    IMO, it's better to wait.

if you want to keep the car forever then give it back. If not then just live with it. It is just a car.

If it was just buffed and painted I would not care. If you keep the car and drive it a lot you will probably end up repainting it again yourself at some point. If it shows up as part of the record of the car it does change the value to some people especially if you resell it as almost new with low miles to the people who are mostly interested in a piece of artwork for their garage as apposed to a car they are going to drive. As the car gets older and you put on more miles it will matter less and less. All that being said I would ask for a discount for what you would have paid for the car had you known about the repair in the first place.

just know when the tie comes to sell it, your car is gonna be in second line to be looked at on someone's list.

I suggest you look for another one as it's already on your mind, and won't g away once you have it, it's to big of a purchase to not get exactly what you want, I suggest keep looking, there are alot of 430's out there
