Howdy, anyone know the size of allen wrench size for the drain and fill plugs on both the rear differential and 5sp transmission? Just want to make sure I have the correct size prior to changing some gear oils.

Also, just for the fun of it, what brand and weight do you use and do you use different kinds of oil for the diff and transmission?

I just did mine, and they were 12mm allen, and 42mm socket. Don't forget (like I did) to order the copper crush washers for each. I used Red Line 75W90 Gear Oil for the rear differential. I bought a cheap hand pump that fit right into the Red Line bottle. Took almost two quarts. The drain plug had a magnet, so don't forget to check that for shavings. Easy job.

I too used Red Line MT90 in the manual transmission.

Be sure you torque the plugs to spec. I don't know what that spec is, but I'm sure someone knowledgeable here will know.

Some threads and the manual suggest 40+ ft lbs but I stopped at 25. No leaks to date.
Unfortunately, I will need to machine the engine sump pan next winter as I found a hokey plug with sae thread and I don't really trust it long-term.
