Oh, I dunno, $190K for a nice GTS seems very reasonable to me!! :D

This book should be required reading, with a new subtitle of course:

There's no bubble here. This is simply the market finally catching up to what all who own Dinos have known for years!!! There's more "value" in a Dino than there is in any late model Ferrari. :D

Aloha....David Pham's GTS that was nut and bolt restored went for $150k with back up offers....so.......if this is an original low mileage car complete with books and tools and they may settle for 175k.....who's to say it's overpriced? Time capsule survivors are few and far between.......there's my story and I'm sticking to it....Gregg Blue 69 206 GT 00350

This must be the lowest mileage Dino at least in the US.

Daytonas do not have the body shape or racing heritage that Dinos have, nor the innovative mid engine layout. Drive one and the perspective through the windshield sporting the front fender's complex curves make some think of the 250LM.

The Daytona has always been a classic, but the Dino (years ago) was placed at the bottom of the 308 division at FCA events. Now the Dino is in the vintage section, a complete change of perception by the cognescenti.

I've seen threads in the vintage section claiming that Daytona prices have stalled except for super concours examples. Dinos are missing from the FML, seems supply and demand are prevailing.

Price really is not surprising (go you good thing!!). A GTS has been recently listed down under for sale at ~US$210k. There have been others that have sold recently in the $160-180 range. Don't know about you guys but if they start consistently selling north of $200k, might be hard to not let it go

To my mind, a "time capsule" car is unique and exciting because every molecule of it (save the tires, brake pads, bushings, etc) are what rolled out the factory gates. Since this car has had $50K in (presumably) paint, interior, and whatever redone on it, it's not a time capsule in my mind and the 6M is of little consequence. Who cares if it's 6M or 46M if it's all been redone anyway?

UH OH, In current FORZA..TOM says 246 going nowhere pricewise. teh way things are going TOM and SCM (which for some reason also pans 246s) have a real big say in the collector and even speculative marketplace from what I read. I love the cars myself, but I don't invest nor speculate in my car hobby.

I didnt realise the 206/246 series Dino had won its class at Lemans 3 years in a row nor placed as high as 2nd overall in the Daytona 24 hours (in 1979 no less... 5 years after it was out of production). I also didnt know the Dino ever was a Ferrari Factory supported racecar or that the Ferrari factory even built dedicated 206/246 factory production based racecars.

In fact.... until far more recent times, I dont believe the Dino was recognized as a Ferrari at all! Seems they were sold WITHOUT Ferrari badges or ID at all and were in fact Dinos... not Ferraris!

Terry <-----------runs to hide with flame suit on and extinguisher in hand!

And before I get killed, he started it and I am just messing. I love the Dino...

Pantdino, you are right. With 6,000 miles, the car should not have been restored. After restoration, it simply joins all the other restored examples and the mileage becomes irrelevant. It's tough to resist "improving" an original, unrestored car though, specially if it's your only toy car. You'll need a second car to play with.

Insane pricing, and Bentley Of LI is the last place I'd buy a car.
Restoration is suspect, maybe its 6km after the resto?

Its pretty amazing what happened with these cars sort of Dinos revenge, in the 80s they sat outside in the dealers parking lots unloved and rusting trying get someone to take them home for $15k, then shunned at the Ferrari events for being more of a Fiat.

J.P., I know its all been said before and heretofore realized, finally that the Dino is ideed a true Ferrari with pedigree. I guess the problem started with the Idea that the motor was a Fiat. This issue couldn't be further from the truth with design from the original Ferrari F-1 design, productionized into the Dino form. Castings were done at Fiat based on Ferrari design and finish maching and assembly conducted in the Ferrari Factory and the car a total Ferrari built production.
Education has been slow to reveal this aspect of this little gem, but has finally superceded misinformation and has established itself in the market as a Ferrari icon to be revered and cherished. So be it for many models who's time has finally come and to fully realize the impact, try to buy one at a reasonable price!

What racing Heritage? A lone NART entry at LeMans?

Dino F1 and prototypes have nothing to do with the road cars except for the familiar script.

To class them above Daytonas competition wise is ill informed at best.

Why is everyone so hung up on this?

A Dino 246 is a fantastic beautiful machine and would still be with a FIAT badge.

So is the FIAT Dino it's just not as all and out EXOTIC as the "Dino" version.

Hmmmm, the chassis/manufacturer's plate on my GTS says Ferrari. What does the chassis/manufacturer's plate on your Toyota say?

    Oops! My mistake...
