After consistant over billing , every month they made "mistakes" , overcharged , charged for minutes used during their "free nights and weekends" charged roaming fees when it was a nationwide plan etc and this was very month, When the contract that we signed expired I purchased phones through Nextel we called Alltel to cancel service they then informed us that the contract expired the previous month and they automatically renewed it. I told them this was BS and if they could not produce a new contract with my signature they could go to hell. they assured me they would stop billing and calling us because they could not produce a new contract. Well that was 8 months ago and every month it is the same thing they bill and call and then assure us it was a mistake and it's taken care of . They just called again, this time I am filing a 475 form with the FCC the moral of the story is ALLTEL IS A COMPANY OF THIEVES.

But even if they do overbill and accidentally overcharge, you'll have to pay or they will cut you off. Well... in some cases they will. But some businesses seem to be counting on making the money on the float of their mis-calculations, which seem to be quite calculated mis-calculations.

Wells Fargo wanted $2.25 for an ATM fee by a non-Wells Fargo customer to withdraw $20. Even though it was "cancelled" with the "cancel" button, his account was debited $22.25. I was a witness of this. After just over 5 weeks of arguing with his bank and theirs - because they kept punting into each others' court - the money was finally returned. So, in practice, if Wells Fargo does this mis-calculation say... 100 times a day in various locations across various states (100 being a very low estimate for 'cancels'). It adds up very quickly. 100x $22.25 (to make a small example) = $2,225 a day or x 30 = $66,750. *shakes head*

They remind me of the John Grisham book where the insurance companies denied claims in the hopes people would pay it themselves and if questioned they could claim honest mistake. Alltel just makes it obvious when it is every month. well we will see what they do with the FCC knocking at their door, they can ask CBS how that feels :)

Frank- So you think Alltell was bad- just wait until you use the Nextel phone for awhile.

    The phone service sucks.
Dropped calls, not able to make calls, reception like you're in Africa, phones that die, ect.

I wouldn't wish Nextel on a Ford dealer.

But Nextel bill is always correct- I'll give them that.

Can't argue about their phone service , but I do get a Gov't discount from Nextel :) and the 2 way works good at work. Actually I wish Alltel on Disadvantaged Ford :)
