Fatbillybob, i have a debit card from Bank Of America, and have had to dispute a few charges. Every time i have had a charge disputed i have gotten my money back, The bank posts an immediate temporary credit, then when the case is settled the credit will become permanent. During one conversation with a fraud representative, over a 34$ dispute which had posted once a month for 3 months. The representative asked if i had tried to contact the company. I told him that i had, and that i could not get through to anyone. He put me on hold, 3 minutes later he came back, told me he was able to get ahold of someone, and that the charges were being fully refunded immediately. After that he elaborated a little, to explain that the bank has their fraud department, and because i used my Debit Card the bank could turn to VISA. Evidently when visa gets involved, it charges the company a 5,000$ per charge fine if the company is found to be at fault, in my case this would have been 3 transactions for a total of just over 90$, compared to 15,000$ in fines. The Bank Of America representative said that even the treat of turning over the case to visa is enough for companies to not even want to fight the charge.... For a 34$ charge it would be crazy for the company to fight it. I don't know what the deposit was that was given for this 348, however if it is a fraction of 5,000$ i would imagine the O.P. will get his money back pretty quick. The Bank Of America fraud department doesn't mess around and I have gotten the impression that they take each case quite serious, i have had to use them 3 or 4 times.

There was one case that i had with Sears, Sears would not refund my money.. When BoA got involved i got my money back after 1 phone call, in that case i had the receipt and offered to send it to the bank if they needed it for the case. I was told to keep it, and that they would call and ask for a digital copy if it was needed.

So, even though there my not be any laws, in my case the business establishments have had their own, and in some way's more effective ways of persuasion.

My only question would be about the title. If the title is clear, service it & keep it...or sell it as is for a big profit!

I hope the OP knows you are joking as you didn't make that clear. He could work on it a ton and still lose a ton money.

That car is one of the biggest POS I have ever seen and for a Ferrari that spells DANGER.

You will never get a 348 worth anything for less than mid-30's and that would probably need a major.

I agree with another poster that said save some more money and buy a nice one.

I actually walked into ferrari today and found a 1990 Testarossa that I really liked. They offered it to me for 59k with 27k miles on it, and said they would perform the major service before I picked it up. This thing was a cream puf too, and had all records.

I am seriously considering. Its red with tan leather too lol

    Now you are thinking!! :)

I've had both the TR and the 348, and they are completely different cars. The 348 is more tossable, and a sports car. Whereas the TR is a great GT car. However I did manage to give a Serie Specialle a spanking at the track with my old TR.

OK...but you beat up Vipers with our 348, now didn't you?! Ah ha! 348 still wins. :)

This thread has made me realize I'm sometimes too optimistic. I put my money on paying more upfront and endorsed that idea well before I bought my car, but I thought MAYBE someone had beaten the odds...no, it will always be the case -- there simply are no "deals" when it comes to these cars. I didn't realize it was the one with the yellow wheels. Those things are reason enough to be happy you didn't end up with it!!

I kinda' like the idea of yellow and brown, though!

I have had 3 V8s and 1 V12. I love the 12! And the TR will always be a classic design but too many made to be of any value like a 275GTB but who cares its a driver! I may still by a TR for myself so I'll have 2 12's

Are you sure a TR will contain your girth? It's wide, but is it wide enough? Can you cook wings on the manifolds? Does that have anything to do with your love for 12's? Bigger manifolds cook more wings!

What do you guys think about a 2000 550? Found one clean title with 13K miles. Needs a belt service but it can be had for 55 grand.

Man, you really need to narrow down what you are looking for. You have bounced from a 348 Spider, 348 targa, Testarossa, and now a 550 Maranello. What the heck are you looking for out of a car? These are all VASTLY different cars. Pick one, educate yourself on THAT model, and find the best one you can afford. Bouncing around for anything with a horse on the hood is probably a recipe for disaster.

I got the 550 because the rear window is so big when the car gets hot I can roast my chicken back there.
