With the UK press ripping into him with Jenson calling him "weak, really weak" for ducking out on the charity triathlon, Lewis must've been keen to turn it around with pole for Britain.
Instead he's wasted a lap's fuel, been done by his team mate, a wild colonial boy and Kimi on an apparently off day.
Dad will be hiding the papers!
    LOL

Every driver has an off day, or days. Lewis is just showing his humanity and immaturity. He could also be showing that his first year was just a lucky fluke. I do not see any reason to slam him for this.

I still believe that Kovalainen and Kubica are as good if not better than Hamilton. The comparison to Alonso last year doesn´t hold water for me, just as possible that Hamilton was having a good year, Alonso could have been have a bad year. Not keeping your cool and focus can slow down a driver. Alonso had much distraction in 2007.

    Not really ripping into him.
There's the UK press for that task.
More a bud of sympathy. Something I've felt for Kova for some time.
Like to cheer the little guy on but 'till now Hammi refuses to play that part what ever the actual performance.

Its a pity because winning comes over as no hard achievement, just his due. That serves to rob him of his true achievements.

Responding to negative media coverage of the incident in British newspapers today, McLaren CEO Martin Whitmarsh told ITV: “Right now Lewis is damned if he does and he's damned if he doesn't.”

    That about sums it up.

The UK press also gave him overdone praise when he was a rookie sensation last year, so I guess it's coming back around!

Every time Hami opens his big mouth, it erases any chance I could have of feeling sorry for him, as he's still quite full of himself in words and actions.

No. Lewis just needs to think for himself and keep his mouth shut when appropriate. He needs to do instead of talk.

Yeah, DC played him like a fiddle in that triathlon scene!

Found that whole exchange amongst the three UK drivers very revealing.

All under the curse of Stirling Moss. Just Hamilton hasn't realised it yet. Thinks he's immune. Their equal or better which galls the other two.

lewis is a fantastic driver, all your seeing now is the fact that his 1st year was a total fluke. let's face it he had incredible luck to along with him tremendous drive and skill. add to that all the pressure he's under to live up to his hype, and he's bound to stumble until he comes to terms with his immense stardom.

Having just watched a superlative performance in the British GP I bet some anti Hamilton posters are going to find it very difficult to explain some of their earlier comments!!!!

Its really strange how Weber moved over to let Hamilton go by before the first turn! I guess weber will be getting a new Aston Martin on Monday from an anomious fan!

First pit stop for Kimi and hamilton, Kimi takes on gas and Hamilton gas & tires and still gets out before Kimi! Looks like the Bookies got their fix in for todays race. Now I know how Hamilton can spend 400K for a license plate.

Who cares what Button says, the guy hasn't caught a whiff of Hamilton's exhaust since he has been in F1.

One can only hope. But considering the opinions some other drivers have of him, I wouldn't be surprised to see "accidents" happen if he's running mid pack.

I think most of his peers respect his skills on the race track - they got to see them today since he past all but two of them :) These drivers are professionals and "accidents" rarely happen - this isn't Nascar!

I don't understand why so many people let the red mist get in their eyes. Hamilton is a great driver, so is Kimi, so is etc - credit where credit is due. Heck, they are all better than me, so who am I to criticize anywho.

Hamilton showed the world what he was made of today when he was seconds faster in the wet on Intermediate tires than the rest. Oh I forget he only lapped up to 3rd Place.

Is this something you have just made up, or have you actual names and quotes on your list of the opinions that some drivers have of him?
Every one that knows what they are talking about in the F1 world including a siht load of F1 world champions say what a great talent this guy is.

No, but 7 race wins do. More will come, whether you choose to acknowledge his abilities or not.
