Anybody on here going? Carol? I checked out their official program but didn't see the "fans appreciation hour" where one could meet the drivers in the pits. Is that still happening? Also does anybody know what teams will make it to RA? The RA website refers the ALMS website and there you see a gazillion of cars/teams/drivers but I'm sure only some of them will show.
I will be up there but have not seen the final entry list yet. The new Viper will I know be at Road America. I love this track!!
One of the things I dont like about ALMS is this uncertainty who will be at what race. And if that can't be mandated they should at least know/publicize ahead of time.
Pretty much the same cars go to every race. You might have 1 or 2 extra European teams show up at Road America and Laguna Seca. Just look at the last race entry list to get an idea.
I will be there all day on Saturday! It is always a good time, Road America is fantastic. An excellent backdrop for photos, but it can certainly be a workout to hike all over the track. Getting to each corner at the right time of day can be tricky as well!
Yep, that's the way I roam around RA when the wife's on tow. It's such a great circuit, everyone should spend some time at all the various viewing points. Scratch that, everyone should drive the circuit, it's more than a blast. Mark
have you driven there? I'm trying to figure out how to get myself (and/or my 911) out there for a track day a friend is hosting this October.
I have driven the track on various occasions. First the "second half" with Skippy and a few years ago the full track with FCA. There are many track days you can join, just go for it. If you want to familiarize yourself first, there are some good/realistic video games (simulations) out there featuring the track.
I prefer the hike! Makes the tough shots that much more satisfying. Not to mention there are many spots that you simply can't get to with a car, nothing sounds better than Kettle Bottoms as they go into Canada Corner. Absolutely beautiful to hear them go roaring by followed by the throttle blips and exhaust crackling as they go into the turn.
do you know what I do? I probably have 500+ laps around RA in various virtual cars. now I gotta try the real thing! a friend owns/runs MVP Tracktime, they'll be there Oct 13-14, I'd prefer to run with them. but if someone else has a connection (i.e. a car I could borrow/rent for a weekend), let me know
A few months ago I walked the entire Monaco track to get the F1 cars from all angles. I'm happy at RA I can use my car for the bigger moves.
I've driven RA a few times. There are track days very frequently; you can check their website for their race schedule and their rental schedule. Just about every weekend the track is hosting either a race or some car club rental. If you head out this way, let me know. I'll buy beers/brats. Mark
I brought a bicycle to the Nationwide/not so Grand Am. I went from 1 to the paddock to 5 to Fireman's Hill to 7 in about 15 minutes of travel......stopped along the way. It's the very fastest way to get around.
