Jamie Melo got his second class pole in the 430 for Risi. He was over 1 second ahead of Peterson/White Lighning in GT2. Tomas Enge in 007 Aston took the pole for GT1.

Great news as Audi got P1 (Biela/Pirro) and P2 (Allan/Capello). Dyson took P3. Porsches 1 & 2 in LMP2 class with INTERSPORT in 3rd. I hope they have a good race tomorrow - I really like to see the privateer team keeping the factory team at bay as long as possible.

Can't wait for tomorrow!! Wish I was in Salt Lake this weekend!

Best of luck to the Risi team. That 430 is just aching for a victory and I hope it begins at this track.

I'm thinking this will be the first big televised event from Miller, and I can't find it on the TV schedule. Next to F1, AMLS has become my favorite series.

I'll take the LeMans 24 Hour any day over F1.

47 minutes into the race and Allan is out in front of James Weaver by 46.917 secs. Dumas is third, Smith fourth, Biela fifth and Maassen next having made one stop.

Two Astons running 1 & 2 in class over the 2 Corvettes.

Ferrari first in GT1 - 3.062 seconds over Petersen White Lightning.

Dumas in the pits right now.

Ha Ha! Go Astons. I only say this because IMO this is one of the most beautiful racing cars ever built. I just love that car. And I'm with you Carol, AMLS rules. Think sounds.

Not only is it beautiful but it sounds so neat too! Good to know there's another ALMS fan in the group.

Audi is back in the lead! Wonder what happened to Flying Lizard #44? they started in 22nd place and have stayed there the entire race thus far.

    Ferrari still 1st in GT2.

Congratulations to Risi Competizione for breaking through in GT2. I just hope their relatively easy win won't result in excessive restrictions being place on the Ferrari in the future (as it appears may have happened with Corvette).

Miller looks like a neat layout, but it's so featureless! It reminds me a bit of the Cleveland airport course used by ChampCar. And they need to put something down on the verges (grass, or pavement?) to cut down on the dust when someone puts a wheel off course. But if the U.S. G.P. ever leaves Indianapolis, this course should be a contender.

And when I say, think sounds, I mean the entire field. How many different motors are out there? I stood on pit lane for two days in May and I would just close my eyes and listen.

My first impression is that Miller looks a little sterile.

Definitely agree with your first impression. (I went to SLC for a horse show many years ago - remember it being very hot and dry and having to put Kool-aid/Gatorade in horse water buckets to make them drink!) If it weren't for the mountains you would have thought it to be some middle eastern desert location. Perhaps in time, they will make it a bit more eye appealing and not so dusty for the cars.

Sound comments were exactly the same as ours at LeMans. During the middle of the night and at Mulsanne in the dark you could tell who was who admist the myriad of sounds.

Hope Portland is equally as good. Unfortnately I won't be watching IMSA live timing as we'll be in Houston next Saturday night (Ferrari thingie). You know I'll be cheering for Clint and Liz. I know they are only one point ahead in LMP2 and more than likely won't be able to hold on but you MUST give them credit for hanging in there with #37 against the mega-money factory Porsche/factory driver effort. I stay amazed at Liz's ability to handle two very demanding sporting events at the same time and doing so with one in North America and the other in Europe. Recently she only had something like three days between events. You go girl!!! Heard an interview with Patrick on Speed today and she likes to spend her off time laying by the pool, sounds whimpy and ambition-less to me.

It is, but Toole, Utah is also on the edge of a desert. They plan to add a lot more shrubery and make quite a few improvements over the next year.

I watched quite a bit of this, great job by Risi. Mika Salo is a top driver and a great asset to that team.

Anyone know why the second 430 (the FSV/FBA car) wasn't entered for this race? Anyone know why the woman pit reporter kept referring to the 430 fuel strategy as "one stint" when she meant "one stop"??

Nice to see the Ferrari come from dead last to a win, very impressive.

Anyone know why CBS during green flag racing thought it'd be a good idea to show us the two annoucers instead of racing...

Great job for the Risi team very well earned and deserved after all the bad luck they've been having this year.

I agree with you 100%. I absolutely love that car. I would marry it if I could and have the F430GT on the side as the icing ;-)

Good run from the Astons. Even though I am a huge Aston fan, I do dislike the penalties placed on the Vettes. I think its a little too extreme. I would also like Aston to go back to Michellins or for Pirelli to make a better tyre. Those tyres run through so quickly and they always lose ground to the Vettes because of it.

    Like Bahrain??

If they can hold a G.P. there, they could certainly hold the U.S. G.P. at Miller.
