This is a really cool place - Spa revisited only with facilities for women instead of trees!

Got there early afternoon today (Saturday) - rain, rain and more rain. Didn't have qualifying due to the weather conditions but had a "general practice" session instead. Prior to our arrival apparently there was a fair amount of "carnage" on the track in the form of various types of cars including one of the 430's with a prang on the front end which they were still fixing when we left the track this evening. Watched a very interesting Speed GT race in the rain with the Volvo being victorious over the Caddy's, Vettes, Vipers. We were at the first turn which was a downhill curving left turn. Everyone made it thru successfully on the start. The track was a bit different than we envisioned - kinda out of the beaten path, very laid-back atmosphere; didn't have to pay to park, parked in the infield by the paddock, track reminded us very much of Spa - trees, elevation, parking in fields, lots of tent camping, with the rain it just seemed like we were in Belgium instead of Canada.

Looking forward to some terrific racing tomorrow - weather forecast here has rain subsiding early afternoon which may mean a dry or dryer than today event. Speed is carrying the race live at 3 pm EST.

For those of you who haven't had the experience of attending an ALMS race, you are definitely missing out on a most fantastic event. The price is definitely right, everyone and the machines are accessible and this is some of the best racing to be found.

Oh yes, I suggested to the Aston guys that they paint the brake calipers in 007 and 009 to match the nose/windshield trim - I figured why not - got a great response from one of the guys we've seen on several occasions whose remark was "dreadful" (but he was smiling when he said that).

Check out Speed tomorrow at 3 EST.

Mosport in the rain is no fun--unless you're racing, of course.

    Have fun, Carol.

Mosport has no equal as far as spectating in the ALMS series.

If you stick around long enough and camp out over Sunday night and into Monday morning you may be able to sneak your road car onto the track.

Don't ask me how I know.

Getting ready to leave the hotel about 45 km w of track and still raining here. . .but . . weather channel shows it stopping perhaps 11'ish.

Hoping for a great race today. Looks like Weaver will be starting on pole for P1 and the two Ferraris 1-2 for GT2. Let's just hope in the practice session this morning which will most likely be in the rain that the F cars don't get pranged. I am sure they had a late night last evening with the red one.

Good luck Risi and Audi and Intersport.

    Carol

Absolutely!!! We didn't get to the Sheraton at the airport until late yesterday evening then grabbed a sandwich and Canadian beer in the bar for dinner - thus no posts. After the race, went thru the gate, over the wall onto the track, over the pit wall and made it to front spectator row for the podium. When it came time for P1 the nice german Penske guys in front of me moved over so I could proudly display my Scottish flag which was definitely noticed by my friend with a large smile from the podium. We spent some time in the Audi pits later having a nice visit, several big hugs and the ultimate compliment of being his good luck charm! I told him he almost caused me a heart attack as John and I were by pit out waiting for him to come by before the Dyson.

Liz put in a great race too, her times kept coming down. Chatted with her briefly - talk about being busy - doing some PR work, then back to the UK for a horse event the 14 or 15, then back to Atlanta for Petit Le Mans.

I've got a bunch of pictures on my camera and will have to get some posted as soon as time permits.

They announced yesterday that Mosport would be on the calendar for '07 with some surprises. You know where we will be again next year !

    Carol

Headed to Road Atlanta in a few weeks then Laguna Seca in October

This is WAYYY more fun than the F1 races.

The neatest thing in Speed GT was seeing a Viper blue flagged for a Volvo!!!

Michael - great pit photo - thanks for posting it - don't know your thoughts but having attended AlMS and F1 - if I had to make a choice, I think it's gonna be ALMS.

Finally got a chance to watch the tape today...1 - 2 for Ferrari in GT2! And the fastest lap. Great finish after a less than promising start.

Sorry to take over your thread but....
Well after finding out how to get photoshop to automaticly do all the commands I finally managed to resize, auto levels and add the simple watermark for 630 pictures :| I then took a good hour organizing the pictures and picking which will be uploaded and continue'd to do so. The pics are finally up and I hope you enjoy.

Thanks for posting your photos here too. There's a small group of us that frequent this area for other than F1 racing. . . . guess you might call us die-hard endurance fans!!

I went to your P1 cars but with our dial-up system here only a portion of the photos loaded so I will check all your links out tomorrow morning at work where we have T1 lines.

Needless to say I was extremely pleased with Allan taking the overall win and for Risi taking 1-2 in class. Let's hope it's the same at Petit in a few weeks. Class winners there receive automatic invites to Le Mans. You going to be at Road Atlanta?

Have you heard any word about when the race at Mosport might be held next year?

    Thanks,
    Carol

Thomas, thank you very much, great photos. I had a Aston Martin in the rain up as desktop before I was through.

I was quite die-hard at the event with wet everything and i mean EVERYTHING I went and took pictures of the SPEED race series. When I arrived I strip't nude and slipped into a sleeping bag and then hopped outside into a seat by the fire to warm up :( Repeat for Sunday.

Thomas, you are a fanatic in my book, and it's all good. I' just glad you kept your camera dry.

Glad you had a good trip Carol. Thought I would meet you at Petite, but i can not go. Mid-Ohio 2007.

Thomas certainly had an interesting time, didn't he!?! He had some really great photos that I was able to see - a few of the LMP1 photos looked more like boats rather than race cars. Umbrellas didn't fair too well Saturday with the wind - it wasn't uncommon to see them inside out.

Michael - so sorry you won't be at Petit - I was looking forward to meeting you - we'll check the '07 schedule and see how Mid-Ohio works out. You need to consider Mosport for '07 !! Ohio isn't that far away . . it's a whole lot closer than Waco TX.

Sunday on Speed will definitely make for a day of sitting in front of the tv. GP2, F1, Moto GP, Speed GT from Mosport (you can see how wet all of us were), Speed Touring from Mosport . . . . if a person can't get "a car fix" from that day then there's definitely something amiss.

Thanks for always being there for the endurance racing posts!!!

    Carol

That's one fast Volvo you have for a daily driver - I am assuming you are in CA - you can really fly on the freeways! I really do like the Astons - just to be next to them when they start them up is wonderful music. The Aston pit guys are great too.

You must watch Speed TV this Sunday afternoon to see the Volvo at Mosport. Hope they show the blue flag being waived at the Viper to let the Volvo past!!

Are you perhaps another endurance racing fan on FChat???? . . .the more the merrier!

That car completly demolished the whole pack in the wet race.
