I know, that was so sweet http://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/scca/32179/ Well, I kicked the crap out of a bad driver in a Gay-lardo on Ventura blvd a few weeks ago. My other Volvo is a 1900lbs with 420+hp 1966 p1800 coupe. Thank heavens for www.turbobricks.com
A few years back, our CFO showed up at work in a brand new Volvo S80, all proud of himself for his "blend of performance and price". The next morning, I surrepticiously place a a copy of a recent Autoweek review of the car on his desk, bearing the headlines "This Volvo makes one hell of a Buick" Within two weeks, he was driving a Jaguar XJR.
I really hate the S80, it screams I just got my first office! and since is it not German it will never get any respect from the press. The ergonomics of the car are way off too. The S60T5 however, in stock form, will CRUSH a Boxter/Z3/Z4/ and beat most 3/5/7 series BMW and well aside from the AMG and V12, pretty much every Benz and Audi A4/6. For $399 a chip will pretty much give you such a smile and let a lot of people (esp RS4 owners) know you mean business. And unlike the Jag, no electrical problems! The type R S60 loves twisties and feels way better than any other 4 door, awd car I have ever driven. I still have the fwd S60T5 tho, debating the upgrade because I don't want to loose too much power from the awd system. FYI, my mom also has an S60 and smokes loads of BMWs on the hillclimb to her house lol So seeing this victory was not unexpected, but lapping almost everyone under hellish conditions, gives me a hard-on. And well, it is a Volvo so even with a crash, you walk away. I don't mean to say it is going to be setting any records, they just don't have the full funding for a factory works car and good driver, plus racing is for pr, not part of the Volvo credo.
