    Road America is the 20th - race is live on Speed at 2 pm CST. Guiseppe has both 430's entered. #61 -> Toni Vilander/Marc Gene and #62 -> Dominguez/Ortelli. Following a similar pattern, the GT2 class again encompasses the largest number of entries - 10. P1 = 6; P2 = 3; GT1 = 4 and GT2 = 10.

Penske is changing his driver line-up for the chance of max result against Intersport in th P2 lead. This weekend Luhr is running with Dumas while Maassen is paired with Bernhard.

Should be a good race. Hope Ferrari can do it again ! ! !

That's great news. Go team Risi!!

It's too bad there aren't any additional teams competeing in P2 (3?) and GT1 (4?) for this race.

Looks like the interest level of ALMS even with Ferraris entered is you and me!!! P2 is the two RS Spyders and Intersport and GT1 is the two Corvettes and two Astons. Bit of variety in P1 and GT2. Let's just cross our fingers that there's not a replay of Lime Rock for Ferrari. As I recall, they aren't too terribly far off Porsche for lead in GT2 - they have this race, Mosport, Petit LeMans and Laguna Seca to try to secure the lead. Practice and qualifying should be good.

Thanks for responding and your interest in something other than F1 also !!!

Come on now, don't feel alone.. I die for the 430 sports car racing. Can't find enough info on the Euro FIA races , but the 430's are kicking a**. If ALMS would just combine with Rolex I think the racing would be fantastic. I do hate the coverage of the ALMS racing though.I can't remember what race but the Ferrari's got pole and all the idiot commentators could talk about was the Porsches and BMW's.
IMO we need about 6 good F-car 430 teams and 2 or 3 good teams for the 599 and all would be good with the world. Bob

The 430s have had the speed all season, but they have had horrible luck. Even with just "bad" luck they will win; only outrageously nasty luck will beat them.

ALMS and Grand-Am won't merge. Totally different takes on sports car racing. Anything goes in LMP while many rules are frozen in DP. Michelins, Goodyears, etc. vs spec Hoosier tires. All of the DPs are ugly except for the Crawford chassis, imo. The GT class is a joke with real GT cars (retain stock chassis) and tube-frame ringers (you can build a Toyota Solara for the GT classs).

I was at the F430 Challenge event at Portland International Raceway last month and I talked with a guy from one of the teams and he said there will be another GT2 Ferrari team coming.

Yea I know the rules wouldn't cut it between the Rolex and ALMS, but I was just thinking how great it would be to have all those cars and different classes. I also think the DP cars are really ugly, but the racing is sometimes very close. I still love to watch true sports cars race. I would love to see a class with almost stock cars like the 430, vette, porsche, etc,but know they would not work because of different engine and weight sizes etc. They would equalize it to death. I say anything that they sell more than 1000 of per year and must be stone stock except for tires, wheels exhaust and safety features. (roll bar added , pass seat removed etc.) The old 250 GTO's were sometimes driven to the track, raced and then driven home. Coool! Bob

I agree. I'd love to see the Rolex and ALMS merge, but probably not in my lifetime. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe there is a racing series in Europe (GT3?) that only allow safety and suspension mods to stock production cars (Maserati Coupes, Porsche 911s, etc.). I think they equalize them with set ballast and not adjusting the cars with "rewards" weight.

Yes I've been reading alot about it lately. I think it would be fantastic in the states. The same 430, vette or aston etc. that you can walk into the showroom out there fighting it out. I try as hard as i can to follow the european racing , but other than the finish order info is spotty at best. I want pix and video and maybe some races on TV. About 4 or 5 years ago Speed televised som of the FIA GT races from SPA etc. and it was fantastic. I haven't seen any listings for it anymore.

    Rock on!

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know Mr. Risi added the other car!

He was pretty stoked on the F430, when he spoke in Houston.....

The icing on the cake for me is to see Guiseppe have one of his 430's invited to LeMans next year (he's been there before with a 360) and go against one of the Scuderia Ecosse 430's. Now . . that would good.

I was so glad to see Allan get the fastest time of practice today for his first time on the track - his description of the track was like "the old school". I think it's great that with the R10's supposedly being penalized they still kicked butt today - way to to Audi!!!

At least we have more folks on here now!!! Sorry Michael - you are always on any ALMS topic - but it seems that for a while it was just two of us.

FIA GT and Spa 24 - that has to be something to add to the calendar. There was a very reasonably priced package which included meals, shuttle service to six stops and more for only something like 325 Euro pp. Heck, we paid advanced price 58 Euro for our Saturday Imola seat and 265 Euro for one Sunday seat for an hour and half F1 race - Spa gets you 24 hours of better racing!!

I rather like it in black - makes it "stealthy" in appearance. Unfortunately it qualified 8th in GT2. The red one was third.

Where did you meet Peter? are you at Road America for the race?

We're headed to Mosport in a couple weeks then later in the month to Petit LeMans.

Hope the race is a good one today. Did you see in qualifying that the Spyders are right up there with the R10 - wonder what the other P1's think about that?!?!? I think the overall race will be Allan/Dindo in first; other Audi second; RS Spyder with Luhr third (as much as I hate to see it happen I think Liz and Clint's lead will go away today - Penske played his driver games and Intersport obviously doesn't have that capability - maybe reliability issues will plague the Spyders again? and it will be consistency that pays off) . . . . . and starting in GT1 is 'Vette, Aston, 'Vette, Aston.

In another sorta off topic - we were watching NHRA from Memphis last night and it was mentioned that Melanie is up for nomination for Sports Woman of the year - must find out more and definitely vote for her. In today's finals she's up against Hillary Will - she (Melanie) shouldn't have a problem taking her.

Where did the speed advantage go? Haven't dug into the reports, I wonder if there was a "competition adjustment"?

Don't know - I didn't dig into anything either - just know about the hoop-la with Dyson and the R10's. Even with the "competition adjustments" to the R10 - they still took pole.

In the FIA GT race at Paul Ricard, Scuderia Ecosse took 1st and 2nd in GT2.

Is this Lolaman's (Peter) car? - absolutely beautiful 190 SL. Original wheels??

Thanks for posting the photo (We are also MB owners/fans!).

No, not Peters, just an entered car that did race. Peter did have some beautiful Alfas and BMW 2002s in his paddock. I will peak to Peter before I post.
Anyway, that was a great race. Can't hobble the R-10s. The black 430 was looking good and then I had a tree go down in the drive. I've seen short replays without commentary. Did the 430 dive in too deep, or did the Panoz chop him?

The Panoz smacked into him, after he was a full fender ahead!
Announcers said it best, "That's not right..." and made no further comment..

Later said he "didn't see him in the mirrors"!

Try looking out the window! LOL!

    Are both those Risi cars?

I was heartbroken to see the red car's damage by lap 3, but it ran till the end!
It made it into the victory shot alongside the Audis...nice!

It was a clean pass on the inside line, to me....the Panoz turned into him, IMO.

I saw the red Rissi go off and the announcers called it a Porsche 3 times, and I never heard them correct themselves.
