They did--I was there. The Audi's seemed invincible. I was at Long Beach for the race last month--the Audi's are still very strong, but the P2 cars have come on in a huge way!!!
Anyone that loves this racing, please do yourself a favor and go to this site. http://www.rsv-motorsport.com/en/videos.asp RSV is a topline 430 team running 3 different series in Europe. Very fast and great drivers in Romero and Peter Sundberg. Peter is one of my favorites. They kindly provide many many great videos of the incar and TV views from every race. Unbelievable qualifying runs with Sundberg slaming that sequential shifter and placing his wheels so precisely lap after lap. They have great videos you can download. I download a bunch and then burn on a DVD to watch on TV. There is also a photo gallery with very high quality photos . Fantastic site and great team to fallow. The FIA GT championship is fantastic. There are usually more then ten 430's to fallow along with the Maserati MC 12's ,Porsches, Aston Martins (this is where they all are instead of ALMS ) Saleens Vettes, etc. To me it gets no better then this.--Best wishes- Enjoy Bob
Good day today! 9th in GT3 and 1st in GT2! I had to post a couple shots of my office this week. Sitting next to this 1972 Ferrari 312 all week was sort of cool! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Why would it matter that P2 is faster than P1? The competition in P2 is great. Why mess with anything?
Watching the CBS coverage of the race right now, they were showing an in-car view of the white F430 Challenge and I noticed the driver wasn't using paddle shifters to change gear... huh?!
Joe - sorry to have missed you - I didn't check FChat later Friday night - sleep was in order having to leave the house at 3 am to catch the flight to SLC. We probably walked right past you guys and didn't realize it - I kept telling John that was your team . when we watched the GT3's take to the track and then I said no, that's it (brain fade on my part). .guess we'll catch up with you guys at Petit or Laguna Seca (I don't remember if your sked has you at some of the other events). Your photos in a prior post are terrific. I'm surprised you weren't a team member for the Corsa guys who were without a pit crew last week! Great racing in the ALMS race, too bad Risi had a broken drive shaft. Tomas was definitely doing a fantastic job - after all their problems it was nice to see them win although I would have been happier with #62 on the top step of the podium. We were down at turn 1 at the start of the race across from the big tv - what a start for Pirro - another lap or one less caution and Allan would have had overall. Guess I am starting a hat collection as he gave me his Michelin podium hat this time after the race. I can say that the race at Miller Motorsport Park is by far the easiest to get to, most fan friendly location, cheapest tickets (I got them on-line the day they were available - $25 each), the fan section at pit out was terrific - concessions, tables w/umbrellas, the shuttle was great and probably the neatest was the "pre-grid walk" where the cars were staged prior to going onto the course and then the grid walk - didn't have to jump any walls (extremely easy to get around and out). We'll definitely be there again next year. Had a most interesting conversation with John Hindhaugh (Hindy) and a few others at the Dyson Garage prior to the autograph session. Discussed the 908's, America vs Europe in the LMP classes, significance of the first 6-7 hours at Le Mans in several weeks among other things. "Hindy" is by far the best announcer in motorsport (hope all went well with the broadcast on XM yesterday for the first ALMS coverage). Let's hope Risi gets the broken drive shaft resolved and that car is back running as before. I saw that Scuderia Ecosse didn't have the stellar performance this weekend either - one into the wall, the other one and an MC12 coming together. AF Corse won GT2 at Bucharest. Suffice to say, Le Mans GT2 is going to be exciting!!! Congratulations on your team placings! Carol
A few pics I took in the UT section: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106493&page=12
If you want to see a joke...go to a Rolex GT/DP event...I would have rather been at Miller Motorsports Park than where I was at Laguna Seca this past weekend.
