I personally think the guy is going to be a cancer in the team. Great pilot but I just don't think its going to work out. I've been following the scuderia since the Jean Alesi days ( as I am only 32 yrs old ) I have never been so doubtful about 1 guy joining the team. All I can say is Forza Massa & I will be pulling for Felipe !!!!!

Agree on Alonso's antics but he is a fantastic driver and I think he will succeed at Ferrari or anyother team for that matter that produces a capable car. It will be very interesting how they manage Alonso/Massa as teammates.

I hate this guy too. But, it's a fact he's the best out there eversince Schumi retired. And we need top drivers for the Scuderia. So, honestly, i can't wait for Massa-Alonso pairing.

Be prepared for years of pain. Not because of Alonso but because Ferrari have forgotten how to make winning cars again.

Look at how McLaren have turned their piece of **** (even though they are hampered by LH who is not the best car developer) into a winner and consistently quick car even though testing is banned ... Ferrari are instead lost.

As long as he wins how he acts or what he does i don\'t care.

This is the guy that beat M.Shumacher....TWICE

Well I used to think that too.

But look at this season. The car went from 3rd worst car to the best car on the grid in the hands of Hamilton.

I really hope it all kicks of near instantly with Ferrari/Alonso...I don't wish him the best at all. I'll be rooting for Massa next year at Ferrari and Kimi where ever he drives

They haven't forgotten. The regulations about building a car and maintaining it over the season have just been royally effed up. Everyone has to adapt, and a few other teams just did it much better than us this season.

As I agree with you that Alonso is a cancer to anyone, I think he will have a hard time getting away with his whining at Ferrari. Ferrari won't take his ****, they will just kick him out. If anything I think it will teach Alonso a lesson and I look forward to seeing him at Ferrari.

Ferrari's got the cancer already. The Spanish X-ray therapy alone is not going to cure it. Massive surgery will be needed.

Ferrari stopped development of this years car several races ago and said as much.

They got a late start this season, with all the rules changes, b/c they were so focused on winning last years' title and that left them in a huge hole for 2009. A hole they realized they would not get out of in time to amount to a hill of beans.

I not going to far out on a limb here but I believe they will be much better in 2010.

But I agree with the OP, I will only be rooting for one red car in 2010 and it won't be the new guy.

What happens to the Ferrari race engineer and others because Alonso is bringing his people to Ferrari - that really sucks big time. Sounds a bit fishy to me. Apparently the Ferrari people aren't good enough for him or perhaps there's something else we don't know about...yet.

    Curious.

    Carol

I am not an Alonso fan...Ferrari should have offered that money (or more if necessary) to Vettel instead to bring him over from Red Bull.

Were we talking about Brawn, Todt and all I might agree. I don't think Domenicali has the credibility to push an insolent Alonso off the team. Alonso has always been a 'me first' guy, and that's not going to chance just because he's driving a Ferrari now.

The stuff that Carol wrote about him bringing over his own race engineers already shows he hasn't changed that much. It also shows that Ferrari will take his siht.

And what did Schumi when he arived to the Scuderia?
Alonso is the best active driver imo. Thus I'm a Massa man myself, I'm happy to see Kimi go & Alonso coming. Scuderia need a driver that can develop a car. And Alonso is the man for the job. Look at what he did with that McLaren when he arived. It sure wasn't Lewis that turned the car to a winner.

I would rather lose then have Alonso in a Red car.

I can't imagine a worse thing for Ferrari to do then sign Alonso, yes I expect he will win and will likely win another championship for Ferrari and himself but his antics belong in the WWF not F1

Get real! he didn't make the Mclaren car, get it in perspective, hence why isn't Renault blowing the doors of everyone, if he is THAT good.

No doubt he is the best all round driver. But considering LH in his rookie year gave him something to think about, and by your admission he supposedly made the Mclaren a faster car who was that to suit ...I'll answer himself! not Lewis's car hence the attempt to give back handers to his race engineers to make his car faster than Lewis's.

I liken Ferrari hiring Alonso to when the US elected Clinton: everyone knew the content of their character so don't be surprised when their true colors come out.

Alonso is a cheat, plain and simple. Ironic thing is that he doesn't have to be as he is probably the best driver in the world. I can't stand him and it will pain me to see him soil the Scuderia.

I hope Massa blows him away early in the season and relegates Alonso to supporting him for the championship.

I'm tired of hearing that nonsense. It is about as relevant as "the best all around boxer", many of whom have found themselves in a state of KTFO. Only results matter and Alonso hasn't had any to speak of lately.

How on Earth is that not relevant, and he was on the podium AT THE LAST RACE.
