As the season ends, can we say that Alonso once again made a poor decision in switching teams? how would he have done if he stayed with his old team? was AM offer too lucrative to turn down?
    open to discussion…

AM is a good team. Dan Fallows comes from RedBull and was under Newey so he knows about aero. The HQ facility with new wind tunnel should be up-and-running pretty soon. Lawrence Stroll has invested heavily into the F1 team.

Alonso did pretty well in the AMR23 and was quite consistent throughout the season given the upgrades.

Alonso just has a weak team-mate which unfortunately for the team, is a huge setback. They'll never be a top 3 team with Lance Stroll as a team-mate.

So you keep repeating, although Lance Stroll finished 10th in the WDC.

I still cannot see how his team mate affects Alonso's driving.

A Number One driver cannot benefit from the points gained by his team mate.

So you're telling me, Stroll couldn't achieve a 100 points added to his current points given the car he had in the beginning of the season. That wouldn't have helped the team as a whole?

You know what, forget it. I have this debate ad nauseam.

How many podiums did Alonso have this season? Seems to me that he made out the best he has since his tenure with Ferrari.

He had 9 consecutive podiums in the beginning. He's had more all throughout the season.

Alot more than his team-mate that's for sure.

Unless you were in the RB this entire season nothing mattered anyway.

I believe this was the least competitive season I have ever seen in F1, which also made it the least interesting season.

I wouldn't be surprised if Liberty and the FIA devise something so that 2023 is not repeated.

Probably wouldn't have made any difference, but one of the best races this yr was when they imposed the 18lap limit on tires. Balls out racing for everyone, both the drivers and pit crews.

Turkey 2020 was the best race of the last decade.

So, repave the track only weeks before the F1 race, and have ½" rain per hour on the track.

53 laps on inter-slicks.....amazing that race. The top 3 were all veterans too. Ashamed Leclerc lost it on the last lap for a podium finish.

Or....more realistically, have Pirelli make 220 mile tires.
Benefits: 1) satisfy green interests 2) easy to understand tire management issues 3) increase driver importance.

If they had 2 Alonso's, they'd be #2 in the WCC.

    My questions are:
Is the AM actually a pretty good car that Alonso drove to it's potential?
    OR
Is the AM not a very good car and Alonso deserves all the credit for driving a mediocre car and doing as well as he did?

Alonso had some nice races and podiums. He seems happy, his team happy with him and he’s coming back next year so that’s awesome. I’m happy….
