Alonso says Dennis lied to World Council
Sep.28 (GMM) Having already denied a code of silence with Ron Dennis, Fernando Alonso has now accused his McLaren boss of lying. As the reigning world champion's relationship with the Woking based team continues to disintegrate at the scene of the Japanese grand prix, Alonso suggested at Fuji Speedway that Dennis was not telling the truth recently at the World Motor Sport Council.

Dennis had told the Paris hearing that he had not spoken with Alonso since a falling out in Hungary.

"That was not true," Alonso told reporters.

"I will not comment every day about what is correct and what is not, but in this case it was not.

"I was surprised about that because in Spa we were talking together in the hotel and I read in the press that we were not talking. I don't know. If Ron said that it is because he wanted."

Would you want this guy (Alonshole) working (driving) for you?

Maybe Dennis is reaping what he sows. Karma is a b!tch sometimes. What goes around comes around.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of guys IMVHO. ;)

Alonso should concentrate on driving and forget about talking.

I'm getting to the point where I believe everything he says is just whining. Incessant, perpetual, effeminate, whining.

Never liked the guy. You will see that he goes to Renault. ING will finance the matter.
Also this is the only unique way to deal with Hamilton (respect..) for him I guess.

They can afford Alonshole but it would be harder with Bernie and Max' salaries. And they are the scenarists.

He is worth about 35 million USD. He is rich, no doubt, but that wasn't my question. I just doubt that the job of FIA president actually pays all that much. It is a bit of an honorary job to begin with.

They had a list of the top earners in F1 last year. Very interesting.

Who do you think is the richest? It is not who you think it is. :)

Who do you think are the top 3 richest team managers?

Who are the top 3 richest drivers?

do you know if the article is online anywhere ?

    Bernie.

    Ron Dennis
    Frank Williams
    Flavio Briatore

Eddie Jordan might have featured but is no longer involved in F1 atm.

right this is last yr and an overall - eg not the latest salary, so i'd say

    MS
    KR
    RS

I doubt it is online, but you can search www.businessf1.com yourself.

    It is not Bernie.

Flavio is in there. Have to look it up RD might be too.

MS is #1 yes. And KR #3 (IIRC), but RS is not in there.

Now that I came up with this quiz, I have to dig out the magazine to give the correct answers. :) But I'll let somebody first have another go at it.

What is kewl and blew me away was the answer to the richest guy, to the 2nd richest team manager and 2nd richest driver. One wouldn't expect those answers.

i woulndnt be surprised if Aguri Suzuki featured pretty high up in the team managers too

Dietriche Mateschitz (owner of the Red Bull drink company and two F1 teams) is probably 2nd on the ultimate F1 rich list - though he may well have actually earnt more than Bernie last year

    DINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDING!

    We got a winner!

Mateschitz outranks EVERYBODY by a huge margin in F1. If he wanted, he could just buy F1. All teams and drivers together.

    excellent :D

i do however seem to recall that the rich list i saw rated him behind Bernie on overall fortune but catching fast (with Red Bull increasing in value and him earning more than Bernie per yr)

(still dont know the other 2 - eg the missing driver and team manager)

    From BusinessF1 September 06 issue.

    1) Mateschitz at 7 billion
    2) Bernie at 4.5 billion

So Mateschitz also wins richest team manager.
2nd richest team manager was Alex Shnaider (Midland) 1.3 billion.
3rd is Flavio at 220 million.
4th is Stoddart at 178 million. Surprising isn't it? He beats all the other big names like Williams, Dennis and Todt.

Schumacher is the richest driver at 335 million. We know he has now about 550 (600 minus 50 for charity). So the data is a bit old.
2nd richest driver is Eddie Irvine at 160 mio.
3rd is Kimi at 120 million.

i take it your figures are dollars yeah ?

Forbes (August 2007) puts them at the following

    Ecclestone - $3.6Bn
    Mateschitz - $3.0Bn

Sunday Times puts Bernie at £2.25Bn which is more like $4.5 Bn USD - either way hes ahead of Mateschitz
hes not a manager though is he ?
his teams are both run by others as far i know - Red Bull by Christian Horner and Toro Rosso by Giorgio Ascanelli

another owner - but i'd forgotten about Midland.
Shnaider actually ran the team iirc too - so in 2006 he would have been no1 in the managers list.

didnt realise he was worth that much - impressive.
with Mateschitz as an owner not manager that puts him 2nd.

he was gone by the end of 2005, selling out to Mateschitz - so they cant both be in list.
    Frank Williams next @ £95m ??? (circa $190M)

damn i knew Irvine was worth that too.
but as he was gone by 2006 i didnt think he would be on the list.

i cant remember where i saw it, but of the current drivers i do remember seeing something that had RS at no 2 in the rich list.

Interesting about the Forbes figures. I guess some of these numbers depend on how you do the accounting. Kinda like trying to put a price tag on Trump. Depending on whom you believe he is between bankrupt and a billionaire. :)

You're right about Mateschitz not being a manager. My mistake. The magazine didn't group them, I did.

The list is perpetual. It was put together in 06, but it doesn't distinguish between the years and who is still active etc. That's why the next richest driver is Stewart. Another surprise IMHO.

Irvine lost a bunch of money btw. He used to be a lot richer, but one of his partners did some bad deals.

    All USD.
