    I can't see where the "evasive" bit is in that article.

    It was mentioned that there were suggestions "he is clearly Ferrari's number 1 bet to be 2010 world champion".

    This statement does not claim him to be the number 1 driver at Ferrari, it say's he is the number 1 bet, meaning he is the most likely to win the 2010 WDC out of the two Ferrari drivers. Based on the points situation with the two drivers, that's a pretty obvious statement, nothing more.

    Alonso then merely states that Massa will be pushing just as hard as anyone else on track for the best result possible.

    Looks more like poor journalism more than Alonso being evasive IMHO!.

    Seriously he probably is not allowed contractually to address this. He is the #1 was as soon as the ink dried on the contract. He was stating the company policy about Felipe. Just like a good little employee.

    When faced with real in-team competition Alonso left Mclaren. He appears incapable of handling a team that does not bestow the #1 on him. I think FA and Vettel are quite similar with reguards to team mates. Easily rattled.
