Fernando Alonso reckons Ferrari's point-scoring record in the last four grands prix proves that it can now be a title contender to the end of the season, as he believes the F10 should be competitive on all remaining tracks. http://bit.ly/9L6aaE

Very nice of him to acknowledge the efforts of the team back at the factory.

I think those last two comments he made about the the team at the factory and the pit stop crew show some maturation on his part. If he had picked up a few points at SPA as well.......

I just hope he's not being over confident. So far, Ferrari's wins this year all seem fluke to me. The Bulls are still the fastest car out there.

The engine situation concerns me about Ferrari. Alonso will need a bit of luck and no more major mistakes to have a good shot. The Bulls need luck as well with reliability and starts!

    Please explain this one!.

Fair enough in Bahrain Alonso got lucky in that Vettel had an exhaust problem, but in both Germany and Monza, the Ferrari's (in race trim), were just plain fast, as admitted by their nearest rivals at those races.

Martin Brundle on the BBC stated after the race at Monza that the Ferrari's have had great raw speed all season but the team had failed to make the best use of it at some races, and that Alonso had made some silly mistakes that have cost him this season at other races, so just how have their victories been flukes?.

I'll give them credit for not tossing in the towel half way through the season. The last race in Monsa really showed their potential.

I still think Hamilton will win the championship though. Alonso will need some help and some luck along with great results.

They are on his 8th engine... but aren't they allowed to swap out previously used engines as much as they want? Hopefully they have enough engines to last the final 5 remaining weekends.

Singapore will likely go to Red Bull. Suzuka and Brazil might suit them well.

What i meant to say, Phill, Ferrari's wins, besides Germany, was not dominating, or just a lucky one. Obviously the exhaust issue in Bahrain handed Fred the win, but at Monza, Button came in second just 2 sec + behind Alonso, in a car which Button claimed was shaking all over the place after his pitstop with new tyres.

Basically, what i meant to say was, Ferrari's wins aren't convincing as the Bulls and Mclarens.

Big statement. He's going to look like a massive bellend if he doesn't win the WDC.

Nobody wins anything without luck so don't be so quick to dismiss. As they say "I'd rather be lucky than good"

No room left for excuses by Alonso if he fails to win the title then...

At least Vettel has a long list of excuses ready ...

Ah yes, now I see where you're coming from and I agree, Germany apart, they didn't completely dominate the races in the same style as Red Bull or McLaren have.

Mind you, having said that, at Monza I got the impression that Alonso was incredibly comfortable, even when Button was leading. Every time Jenson pulled out a lead of a couple of seconds, Alonso seemed to leave it for a couple of laps and then just simply cruised straight back up behind him again!.

I kind of got the impression that the pitstop was Alonso's preferred choice for getting ahead of Button, but if that hadn't worked out, he would have just bided his time and passed him on track.
I can't put My finger on what it was exactly but he just seemed very calm and confident throughout the race.

As for this latest statement, it seems to be the trend at the moment amongst drivers to give out these sort of positive messages as the end of the season approaches. It's as if they're desperately trying to convince everyone that everything is fine, there's no pressure on them and that they have no weaknesses.

Basically it's turning into an F1 pi**ing contest at the moment, but as the old saying goes: Talk is cheap!.
