According to Jean Todt Fernando Alonso will NOT be at Ferrari in '08. Here's the latest:

Speculation since the Belgian Grand Prix has been rife that Alonso could be on his way to the Maranello outfit in the future, with serious doubts emerging that he will remain at McLaren.

But speaking to ITV before the start of the Japanese Grand Prix, Todt ruled out any change in Ferrari's driver line-up of Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa for next year.

"We have both drivers, Felipe and Kimi, under contract with Ferrari for 2008 and we respect our contracts," he said. "Both did a fantastic job.

"Alonso is a great driver, he's now fighting for a third drivers' world championship. He's a great driver, I have a lot of respect for him as a driver, but we are very happy with our contracted drivers."

"355" I couldn't less about Alonso crashing out, but do you know how dumb your posts are most of the time? Do you actually know anything about F1 or do you just spew things out?

Andreas, excuse me and I will take the one day ban for this one, but "355" you have to be the biggest dumb a$$ on the racing section. You have no knowledge of F1 history and you sound like a Parrott, "Ferrari Great, Alonso Bad, McLaren Cheat". More like "355" Stupid!

    you really think so ?

if the drivers were going to change id rather see the likes of button, rosberg, hamilton etc get the seat.
theres a lot of talent in F1 atm, and with the right equipment i feel that theres more than just the usual 3 or 4 who could compete for the title next yr.

Yes. I like Alonso and I think he is one of the best drivers out there. Kimi and Alonso would make a killer team.

BTW: Alonso might still be on the way to another team. When asked in Fuji after the race where he'll drive in 08, he said he doesn't know yet himself.

I kind of like the internal fight in McLaren between FA and LH. They are both great drivers. I am looking more forward to the 2008 season than the 2007 season. All I know is that LH is the center of attention for the 2008 GP's.

I got a feel of why you like him but as I have said before and still maintain if he can,t get a grip on himself and control his efforts into great driving which he can do,
I would rather put my money on a three-legged rocking horse winning in F1, than him not blaming someone else when he messes up and I,d rather that not be Ferrari. But I maybe wrong.. If Lewis has him beat he may now become humble and better for it then you won,t like him Ha :).

Don't forget that Kimi denied the rumor that he was going to Ferrari right up until the end. McLaren and Ferrari denied it too.

I don't think any of these teams have any qualms about telling a blatant lie - but why would they ever risk their bargaining position just to inform the public? They wouldn't.

To me, "I am not going anywhere" simply means "I haven't signed anything yet, and if I have, we haven't reached the announcement date yet". I think its probably safe to say that Alonso has very much been investigating his options. Flavio is his manager - they obviously talk a lot. I am sure Alonso wants to know from him what he will do to give him a WDC winning car. Alonso's 'people' have also no doubt talked to Ferrari and other teams as well, and I am sure some feelers have been floated to the people at McLaren about what it would take for Alonso to leave. Likewise I bet McLaren have floated some feelers to other drivers they want to sign to see what it would take. Denying everything is part of the game. I think the only thing we can glean from all the denials coming out is that Alonso probably hasnt signed on with anyone else and if he has, its being kept under wraps pending the end of the season (to save face for himself and/or McLaren) or its being held in secrecy until the deal is finalized for his exit from McLaren.

Massa finished. Sixth. Would have been third if not for a "vibration" that sent him into the pits allowing Raikkonen to pass. I would say Massa showed himself very well. Raikkonen was exceptional at the end as was Massa on the last lap, so the Ferrari drivers did quite well. Considering.

Considering that even NASCAR teams have better weather predicting sources than Ferrari. There was no logic, nothing to be gained, for Ferrari to start on intermediates, the weather was bound to get worse. This was not an attempt to circumvent rules, it was a really stupid decision.

As for Alonso, he wrecked. Really can't make any judgement call as we do not know if it was due to a mechanical failure or a bad decision on his part. I am usually critical of Fred, but under the circumstances of the WDC race, he took a chance and didn't win. Just like when Massa tried to pass Hamilton a couple of times at the beginning of the season. And unlike some lesser drivers, he was polite to the corner worker. Still don't like him, but these are the facts.
