So, has anyone else wondered this...

Alonso and Renault are having a good year.

    McClaren is underperforming.

Anyone else wondering if Alsonso will try to void his McClaren contract (do a Button)?

My guess is McClaren was smart enough to have an iron clad contract, but you never know. (I thought the same about williams/BMW a little over a year ago)

I doubt if Ron Dennis would allow a contract with sufficient loopholes to allow this to happen. I also think the Contract Recognition Board would really frown on this after Button-Gate.

I think Alonsa did himself in. McLaren are underperforming and have reliability problems. He should have stayed at Renault.

Ya but... if you poke around a bit there's stories circulating that McL are hotly after some Renault engineers. McL with FA and engineers he's worked with will be a winning package. Look what happened the last time a WDC and his engineers moved to a motivated team ? :)

Unfortunately for McLaren, too many key personel have left for Red Bull following Adrian Newey's departure. I wonder where Mike Gascoyne will end up? My thoughts are Williams and maybe McLaren.

Hate to nitpick, but notice how everyone else spells McLaren?

Check out the official wedsite if you have doubts. ;)

I find it interesting that since Renault are interested in hiring Kimi to replace Alonso, they have first put out a statement that they have firm commitment to be in F1 till 2012.

Additionally, After the Spanish GP, Pat Symmonds had this to say:
All directed at making Raikkonen think twice about going to Ferrari
