Well, this was always going to be a tricky match, and many of us asked how long would it take to end in tears......finaly, this weekend the **** hit the fan!!!
Alonso decided to publicly humiliate one of his employers, damaging Honda in the worst possible way (basicly telling the world while racing that theyr engine was crap)....later on Dennis tried to smooth things, saying they are all very frustrated, that Alonso did no express himself very well but that he understand his feelings....last year Button was begging to stay, this year, Ron says he will stay but Jenson says he still hasn't made up his mind!!! Alonso also says he will end his carreer in Mclaren (didn't he sai the same about Ferrari?) but later Briatore says he will leave if he doen't has a competitive car, finaly, after being criticezed by everyone, Arai says Mclaren is not being fair, that Honda in not the only one to blame, that Mclaren are hidding theyr own problems!!!
What a mess!!! Honda wanted Alonso but we all know honour is the most important thing for japanese so, after the humiliation Alonso made them suffer in front of theyr homecrowd are they still interested in keeping him? And is Alonso interested in driving a gp2 for next year? And what about Mclaren? They probably would like to ditch Honda but they don't wan't to find themselves in the same position than Red Bull...begging and without an engine. And Honda, do they still want Mclaren?.....i've also heard that there is a deal on the table for Honda to suply Toro rosso next year!!!
What do you guys think is going to happen?

Forget Alonso....what about the humiliation of running at the back of the grid (if they finish) week after week?

It's not like Alonso was being unfair!

+1. This is the small picture. The bigger more important picture is the un-health of the sport and the possibility of teams folding/leaving etc.

I know he wasn't, but if Honda is paying him 20mil a year, maybe he should be a bit more polite....nobody forced him to take theyr money!!....and the fact that Honda and Mac are trhowing acusations to each other doesn't seem veri promising either!! Honda engine may be crap but so is the Mclaren chassis, they have at best the sixth best chassis in the grid!!!

Mac is in deep trouble, because they have no sponsors, they need Honda to pay the bills, if Honda quits, Mac will be in the ****!!

WEll, new teams usualy don't last that long....but Force India is around for a couple of years now!!! Haas seems to be well structured, so if they have built a decent car, they have a good chance of surviving...

Just today i heard rumors that Button is linked to Renault.....maybe true, maybe not, but the plot thickens...

He should leave. That PU has won races and is more competitive than Honda at the moment and Renault, Im sure have plans to make it better. He has nothing to lose.

Agree, in Alonso's case, he is being payd a kings randsome, but Button not so much, he couls win the same or more at Renault and drive a decent car!!! Honda will have to redesign the whole engine, Arai himself has admited that much, so i very much doubt nex year they will have a reliable engine, and it will still be one or two years behind the competition.....it would take a miracle for next year engine to be near Ferrari and Mercedes.

I would have really liked for Button to go to Ferrari. I think he is a fast driver and has not always had the best machinery.

Alonso... well, he reeps what he sows. if he were such a GREAT driver why cant he get behind the team and be a force for renewal? - simply because he cant.

He's getting paid huge sums, and all he can do is complain? what a great champion. when it was not going well with Schumacher at Mercedes - you did not hear him constantly complaining...

I hope if Button leaves that he will land in WEC / or Tudor Series... even Indy Car would be a welcome place for him.

Maybe Alonso can run for office in Catalonya once they separate from Spain....

Look at Honda/Mclaren - he should complain. Its been a long season. I have zero issues with his actions. Timing wise they were not good but the truth is the truth.

..........and linked to rumors that Renault might be buying the Lotus team it could make sense. With Romain Grosjean rumored to be going to the new Haas team (announcement expected today!), Jenson driving a Renault-Lotus makes real sense.

    Tom,

Why would Fernando do such a thing? He was born in Oviedo, Asturias, the north-western part of Spain, near Portugal, and is actually living back there again.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oviedo

(You could say he is almost Portuguese by heart...Pedro? Pedro?...)

+1 - Schumacher didn't complain because he had already won seven WDC's and hadn't anything to prove. Fernando signed with McLaren relying on the team's F1 racing history, unmatched by anyone except Ferrari, together with Honda's past F1 success. The entire paddock - all of the insiders, people truly knowledgeable about F1 racing - knows and acknowledges that Fernando is today the best driver on the starting grid. Unquestionably Lewis' driving today is top-class; I'd love to see the two of them in dead equql M-B cars. My money would be on Alonso.

As for Spain we have a saying "De espanha não vem nem bom vento nem bom casamento" ..." d'espagne ne vient ni bon vent ni bon marriage" something to do with a couple of marriages between our princesses and spanish kings....we never did like them much!!!
