I'm still waiting as well, and they haven't responded to emails.
The GM dealer I bought the part from asked me for my corvette's vin number so his computer system could verify I was ordering the right part for my car. When I explained it was for a Ferrari, he went to the used car showroom and pulled a vin off a 2006 vette (or 2007, cant remember exactly).
Well they finally responded after several emails. The siren is on national back order so they canceled my order. Anyone find another source besides FlowGM ?
I had to hunt for a place willing to ship internationally. I ended up with a site http://www.gmpartsdistributor.com but all the customer service emails were with "lakechevrolet.com". Took over a month for my order to be filled, so the national back order sounds correct.
This time with gmpartscheap.com. Over in the 360/430 forum someone said the part was becoming available, though my local dealer said they're backordered nationally. BTW, for those who want to try their luck placing an order, the current GM part number is 15213135. I'll let everyone know if this source comes through. (I can't imagine that production has totally ceased, since it is listed by my dealer as the stock item in 2011 vettes).
Mod done, finally. The corvette siren assembly took a long time to arrive because it was on nationwide backorder in the US. Then I discovered it wasn't a plug-and-play replacement for my car because early assembly number 550s had a different design and needed a cable (part #180072)........which was on back order from Ferrari! Was surprised (DUH!) that now my car chirps like a Corvette. It still sounds like a 550 V12 though!
As of today, the corvette alarms are still on backorder. The best price I've been able to find for an alarm available right now is on ebay from Ferrparts: $250.00 +$13.08 shipping.
Well, that may not be a bad option. Depending on your car's assembly number, the corvette siren may not be plug and play and you'd need the later Ferrari connecting cable to install the corvette siren. Once you factor in that cost, you may be pretty close to 250. Alternatively, maybe check around the local junkyards to see if they have a late model vette being parted out?
I have just ordered one from newgmparts.com I was told that they have stock. Lets see what comes. Cheers
The cost was about $75 usd before shipping. A bargain at twice the price if the ship it and it works. Cheers
The 360 forum is now reporting the Vette siren, part # 15213135, is back in stock if anybody needs one. Taz Terry Phillips
My siren arrived today and after lots of swearing I have just finished fitting it. What a bugger to get to . I found it was easiest to remove both the front headlight and the inner guard to access the siren from both sides to undo the nuts on each side of the siren . When the bolts on the side are loose rotate the siren so that the plug on the back is facing the ground then slide the siren upwwards and the siren will slide out of the bracket. It is not necessary to undo the nuts on the sides of the siren completely . If you loosen them the siren will slide right out. Then pull the siren out of the car from the bottom. You will have to drop the side of the undertray to do this . I think that this is easier than removing the washer bottle to get it out from the top. Sorry I didn't think to take any pics . I know I know. The light on the dash no longer stays on whilst the car is running so it seems to work ok .The only problem is that when I activate or deactivte the alarm it neither beeps nor flashes the lights.(not that it ever has since I have had the car). Is this a feature which can be selected through the menu on the SD2? Cheers
575- Different nations had different rules on siren noises, which were built into the Alarm ECU and why you see country specific Alarm ECUs/kits. Where did your car originate? To make sure the siren is working, I would intentionally set it off. Lock and arm the car with the fob and then unlock with the key. That should set it off. If not, there is a problem. You might actually need to turn off the battery, leave overnight, turn off all accessories (radio, A/C) and start and let idle for 10 minutes. That should reset all the ECUs and make sure they are talking through the CAN lines. It is always a good idea to shut off the battery any time you are changing an electrical component. I had the reverse happen - for the HK market, sirens flash but do not chirp on activation/deactivation. With the corvette siren from the US, I get the chirp and flash now so if you have the same part, it ought to do the same thing. So it sounds like you need to try the power disconnect reset. I don't know if the 550 is like the 360 and 430, but I was instructed by the dealer not to touch the accelerator of my 360 and 430 while letting it idle and the ECUs reset themselves.
Terry The car is a UK car. I set the alarm of as you said but although the light flashes rapidly on the dash the siren did not sound. I will try to switch off battery overnight and see what happens in the morning. Maybe the battery is flat in the siren ? I did switch off the battery whilst I changed over the siren and then let the car idle for 10 minutes after I switched the battery back on. Cheers
Now for something even more bizzare. When I switch the battery off the siren sounds regardless of weather the alarm is armed or not. I have a feeling that even though it is the same part it may have a different program in the eprom if it has one. Does any one have any ideas??? Cheers
Did you ever figure out what was wrong on your siren? Always hate to see one of my hints going awry. Taz Terry Phillips
