430 Alternative to Capristo manifolds/header blanket

    Hi, I have got some used Capristo headers (or manifolds as we call them in the uk). I would like blankets but the Capristo ones are v expensive. Has anyone found an alternative. One option I am considering is to wrap them with an exhaust wrap tape and then use this over the top. Any views very welcome. Thanks Mark

    Find a local insulation firm doing industrial work- they will knock a couple up. Exhaust tape is useless but the blankets are great- drops the engine temp a lot on my 430

    Don't wrap them with exhaust wrap tape. There are companies that do metal heat "wrap"/insulation. Not sure in the UK, but I'm sure there are.

    Fabspeed also makes blankets that should fit most headers if you can't find a metal wrap.

    I had my headers Jet-Hot coated and did a cat delete. No wrapping. Seems a little cooler than the oem application, although I never measured it. The cats generate a lot of the heat.
