Gents I need your help and recommendations! Anyone that knows a source for the alternator connection box located on the rear side of the wall between the engine and the passenger cabin. I need at least the cover as you can see on the picture. Also what is the general consensus regarding upgrading this connection box to a fuse box (The same type as on later Dino's w/ 2 fuses)? I find it a bit concerning that my cars alternator is connected directly to the cars distribution net without any fuse close to the unit, but on the other hand I will prefer to keep the car original.

    Best regards Peter

    Peter,
Sadly, the only supplier was (is?) pr products (see recent thread) and I got one from them a few years ago. Like you I needed the lid only. It was ok, needed work to clean up and fit.
The cars using these were the 330GTC, 206GT and L-series, I believe. I'd love to hear if there were other cars that used it because these are all pretty rare cars. When at shows, I always keep an eye out for one but never found any...
Best hope is to find an original one and just pay.
Or maybe we can ask Verell to make a few lids, he lives near me and I have this copy but it's a one-off job since like the horn ring, there are few cars and even fewer folks who need it.
    Best, Andrew

You're probably going to have buy a new box, several vendors sell these but they are not cheap.

This is a very important item on the Dino, here is how I did it using a modern, fast acting fuse and it is still running strong after years.
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/206-246/189438-dino-diy-alternator-fuse-box-modern-replacement.html

The problem with the original is that the 60 Amp fuse does not blow fast enough and by the time it blows the case has melted down. Modern fuses act faster avoiding the melt down.

A common thread making this failure even more important is that the placement of the alternator is low on the engine, Dino engines leak oil and the oil drips on the alternator. Enough oil will short it out and that 60 Amp fuse gets stressed.
I have casually counted 16 Dinos that have had this failure

Thanks for all the good hints. I have noticed that pr products have the box on the web site, but I can understand that the company is rather unstable for the time being...really a shame because they also have the rubber boot for the rear brake regulator that I'm missing. I might end up buying a double fuse box and convert the 60 amp holder to a more modern fuse.

    Regards

    Peter

Good approach to add a fuse. I think the original junction box is too small to add a fuse into so I'm probably going to install an inline fuse hidden away, trying to keep the OE look.

If the source of the problem is oil getting on the alternator then don't forget to buy the Dino Oil Drip saver
