Hey Guys, looks like my alternator is on its way out, bummer.
Is there a crossover to some kind of ordinary car with these?
    All the best Bell

    Bell,
    Rebuild is the best option.
A couple of hundred bucks is what I spent last year.
    Cheers,
    Greg

    Hi Bell,

Not sure if this applies - but my alternator went kaput and was able to get it 'pimped' out on the cheap by a company out in the midwest.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/mondial/439638-upgrading-alternator-information.html

Here is a whole thread..I believe the Mondial's used Delco alternators.

So far after 2,500 miles - no problem - the alternator light comes on during ultra high revs (7,000+) but only for a split second ---- charges great and from what I can tell - works good.

    Cheers

The alts for the 8, QV and the 3.2 (all Bosch, like Bell's car) are way different from the t (early had Delco and later Denso). However, having it rebuilt is the way to go for all. But in some cases the t can be upgraded from the former to the latter (that's what Ferrari did).

Paul, Wade, that's great and I'd forgotten about this thread so many thanks for the link.
I will get onto fixing Kato as soon as the weather improves.
    Will keep you posted.
    Cheers, Bell.

    Hi Wade,

Best wishes, and I hope all is well in the "Polar Vortex"!!

I was really pleased with the advice and service at:
USA Built High Output Alternators, Upgrades, Conversions, Starters, Parts, Kits and More!

I would take a lot of pictures and get as much info as you can, heck you can even send it back to them...they can replace it with some heavy duty 'guts' --- it's worked fine with my Mondial for some time now...

Only fault is during heavy revving the alternator light may 'flicker' for about a split second...nothing that has hurt me in the past 2,500 miles and it's been charging the battery with no problems...
