try www.ricambiamerica.com and ring Daniel for the part.

Eventually, the engine will stop if the alternator fails, but you will need to be more specific as to what is going on...

    And welcome to Fchat

You hope it's the alternator that makes the engine stop.

    95 2.7 Alternator Part # 158047- MSRP-$1,137.40 Your Price-$995
    96-99 5.2 Alternator Part # 158047 -MSRP-$1,137.40 Your Price-$995

    In stock.

Make sure it's the alternator though. If you need to diagnose it, give me a call, probably won't be able to find out exactly what it is over the phone but I'll be able to at least confirm whether it's the alternator or not.

If it's the "slow down" lights that turn on, then it could be a problem with the Exhaust ECU's.

Which lights come on? Is it the "slow down light", or the "check engine" light, or the "battery" light?

Check out the voltage on the battery just sitting there not running, then check it while in idle, then check it when you revving the motor around 4000 rpm. The battery will read slightly over 12 volts when sitting there, it will read higher at idle around 13.2, then slightly higher than that when the rpms go up... IF the voltage does not go up above 12 then I might suspect you have a bad alternator...

YOU could ALSO have a ground/short in the circuit somewhere that will cause the alt/batt to drain to the low levels you are seeing. You should put a DC clamp on ammeter exiting the battery and check for any excessive currents than normal (check with someone that has a 355 and put a ammeter on his/hers to see what the normal current draw is). Nevertheless, sitting there the car should be way less than 30 milliamps.

i talk yesterday with the last owner of the car, he said that he put a new regulator in it but he also said when it´s too hot the alternator dont charges because the exaust i´ts too near from the alternator and damages it..that´cold be the real problem

Sounds like a voltage regulator problem...my buddy had the same problem on his 348 spider with a ND alternator. It is failing from the heat as you suspect. You just need to pull the alternator and replace the voltage regulator. Rather than use the stock ND part, you might check around for a better quality aftermarket part. Supposedly one exists, but I am not sure of the brand. It was mentioned to my buddy when he took his alternator to Romaine Electric. He elected to stick with the stock part for now...and he has had no further problems so far. (been 9 months or so).

If it's an alternator, go get it rebuilt for $150. It's either a Nippo or Delco. It can be rebuilt, whether it's coming off a Geo Metro or a Ferrari.

I just went through this with my P-car... Bring your alternator to someone that has an alternator test bench. There is a way for them to test the voltage regulator. Mine was ok and yet the alternator was not working. The tech told me my diode plate was cooked somwhere as there was no voltage getting to the voltage regulator. I decided to repair it myself, it can be done with some time and patience I changed the plate but also found the stator(the copper ring of coils) was rotten, wires corroded so bad they had green on them and some even broken off but after replacing both these parts and replaced all casing and plate bolts I had the alternator tested and I get a good strong 14.3V from it now. Doing it myself I saved some money and best of all I learnt something new.
    Chris.
