I recently purchased an aluminium header tank to replace my rusted out metal one. It arrived bare metal (although the item picture shows it painted) and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on what paint to use and any pointers on procedure, finish (clear coat??), etc. I attached a file picture of what it is supposed to look like. Thanks, Andrew

I would use black radiator paint on it, its usually but I guess you can get it differently a semi-gloss black and its thin and very runny, the idea is that you get as thin a coat on the unit as possible so as to not "insulate" it.

I never used radiator paints before, always just used rattle can enamels and after I started using radiator paint, I did not notice any difference in the temp of the car but rad paint seems to stick better to hot surfaces so it looked good longer.
