saw 2 this week in SoBe, today there was 1 in a parking lot, gorgeous, much better looking in real life than in photos when you see it next to other cars its tiny, much smaller than the Vanquish or DB9 or even the DB7. Looks like a real rocket. Its been designed to be AM's most sporting model I have to test drive 1 of these babies, I think of it as AM's ZO6 Anyword on a Volante edition ?
Yep, it's been confirmed and should make an appearance at the LA Auto Show in November (also it's a V8 Vantage, there was never a DB8). Some spy photos actually leaked a couple days ago.. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I only saw the coupe. To me it looks nicer than the DB9 or Vanquish, more compact, aggressive. Very good proportions I thought. IMHO a better looking car than the other Astons.
That was the first thing I thought when I saw one the other day... it really is compact compared to the longer Astons. Looks wonderful, although it's too bad they drastically overshot their $100k price target.
I have just spent some time with a client's brand new DB9 Volante cabriolet..........and all I can say is what a fabulous package.........shame it's overpriced by about $100K though........this smaller car should be even better.
The V8 Vantage is rated at 380bhp. In today's world of ever-increasing power numbers, this is relatively modest. In fact, the AM General Manager I know indicated that the Vantage is aimed squarely at the ex-Porsche Carrera crowd. While the GM wants me to come take a look, I feel I may be let down. My daily driver sedan has 450bhp and all-wheel drive. I'm STILL looking for a Vanquish, though. However, say what you will, I repeat that AM really does have the best lines in the business. The latest update on the DBS (Bond's new DB9 ride) is that it's still up in the air as far as whether it will go into production. If it does, though, it will be priced astronomically. Possibly in the $300K range. How unfortunate. CW
After looking over one today, I would have to say that the sound of the Vantage is a little better then the DB9, but not as good as the Vanquish S. My take on the Vantage is it isn't a car to keep for a long time, but the Vanquish is one to hold on to for a long time. I don't mind at all the manual of the Vantage compared to the pedals or automatic of the other AMs. For some reason the side towards the back of the Vantage kind of reminds me of a RX-8 or something. It is a nice car, but for the money I would get something else.
Tried one for a bit. More focused a drive than a GT that is Vanquish/DB9 - noticeably smaller, lighter - more stiffly sprung - more direct steering - yet not in the same zip code performance-wise as an '06 Zo6 (as previously referenced - yet doubt the two would be cross-shopped often). Though sounds much like an American V-8 - and a great one, at that. Pretty entertaining drive and, IMO, as good a looking current production car as you'll come across.
