Every time I use the SEARCH feature, I get tons of posts that have nada to do with what I was searching for. What I am doing wrong? Do I need to go the correct section? Or What? Help a fellow F-er out please...
...and I'm a moron; I get the same thing or nothing at all. I recently searched by title and user and didn't get a return and I know a thread was there...
I think there are three issues: 1) Search is pretty dumb, it seems to look for the presence of the keywords but doesn't let you put conditions on them 2) Some people are really bad about their thread titles - "something bad happened" isn't as informative and searchable as "308 timing belt broken", if people attempted to create better thread titles, it would allow searches to be limited to titles 3) Because you can't limit your search to titles *and* threads often get hijacked or go off-topic *and* you can't put better conditions on searches, then just the presence of a few words in the thread or posts usually results in way too many hits P.S. The thread title for this one is an example of #2
