Am i dreaming?

Had an embarrassing fopar with the car electrics and managed to short out (and burn!) some wiring.......the event occured due to me talking to someone whilst connecting back up the headlamp relay and not watching what i was doing.
Anyhow horror of horrors i saw smoke coming from the columm switch and managed to quickly (but not quickly enough) throw the battery disconnect switch.
Damage was done. I burnt the wiring going up the stalk to the headlamp switch but actually with a bit of a struggle rewired the stalk ok.
Only problem now is lights wont swich on due to the fact that obviously there was some kind of eccentric cam moulded into the knob (pictured) and the heat has melted it.
I have temporarily put a switch under the dash to bring in the relay initially and then the stalk operates the dip/ beam normally.
Am i dreaming or could this be available somewhere individually?????
