I went online to buy some replacement oil filters. Rockauto charges $11.49 for FRAM PH28041. Reoriginals charges like $35. What's up with that?

    Well...

You own a Dino, so you can't be stupid. Only the best and brightest allow Dinos into their lives.

As to reoriginals pricing, they're probably buying them from RockAuto, just like you. They simply provide one stop shopping for the less discerning Dino owner, unlike yourself.

My guess is, based on this thread, demand for this filter from Re-Originals will drop significantly. :D

Why would you be buying a Fram when you can get Baldwin?

Everything else in my car is as original (well, not my rebuilt voltage regulator), and so works (or doesn't) just as it was intended to work (or not to).

Is the Baldwin truly superior? What's the exact part, and where do those smart Dino owners get them??

Big truck repair parts distributors have them and they are $8-12 each. I think the Baldwin site has a locator feature. Pretty sure it is filter B253. They used to have logo on the side of the filter.

Used to have the Ferrari name and I think logo on the side of the filter.

Have you not read the thread with the Fram filter collapsing under load? It's here somewhere in the 3x8 section where we talked about it to death. Bottom line, get the Baldwin.

I've been using the Baldwin B253 exclusively for over 20 years, on the recommendation of F-Chatter Bob Zambelli. They're reasonably priced, too! Fred

****Fram is a 4 letter word- Never use them on a Ferrari. Baldwin or UFI ONLY. Baldwin's are very reasonable-about $12.
I get mine at "La Grange", it's a truck parts place.

FWIW...I have never heard a "good" story when it comes to using FRAM filters. I have only heard bad stories. I have often seen Ferrari's equipped with FRAM filters and never understood how or why.
