Today I drove the car with the air box cover removed, the sound FX was unbelievable!!! It makes incredible growling sound above 4000rpm. My mechanic said the sound was generated by air rushing into the carb at super sonic speed. Is that true? I really want to get a modified air filter now, anyone sells them?

Check out the individual filters that omgjon has put on his car. As I recall, Jon said they are more 'melodious' than the stock setup. There have been discussions (with pictures), in our forum and the 308/328/Mondial section, about the pros & cons of running aftermarket filters. There is the prospect that the considerably higher temperature of engine compartment air will reduce power. However, Webers are partial to an undrestricted/straight shot of air. Now, consider that the cooler fresh air ducted from the scoop must travel a slightly restricted and rather circuitous path...ending in a 90-degree/shrouded turn into the carbs. I don't know how much mitigating effect that has on the benefit of the denser/cooler air charge.

Others, with more knowledge & experience, will surely chime in to give you a more educated response. However, all of us will likely agree that Dino growls more aggressively when the Webers are unleashed. The engine compartment is a lot more entertaining, too.

raywong, if you're not racing or showing the Dino, it probably boils down to a matter of personal preference. Remember, it's your car. Enjoy it.

    Hi Jon,
'looks like you cut a quicker light!

At any rate, are you still happy with your filter setup? In my GT, the induction sound is more 'present' in my left ear when everything's buttoned up & drawing air through the scoop. With the box open or off, the sound is louder/better, but is more centralized & slightly 'distant.' Perhaps this migration isn't as noticeable when your spyder is topless?

Thanks for the use of your pics,
    Coop

Yes, but those same carb air cleaners had a DINO logo on last Saturday, got pic?

At the tale end of this video you can see/hear OMGjon's blue Dino on the road.
    It sounds very nice too.
