Posted on a Jeep forum by the writer :) Just passing it along as I found it incredible:

So my fiance Jestyn gets a phone call today while I am working from home. I can hear him yelling and swearing on the phone, not so much like he's mad, but more like he cannot even believe what he is hearing. He is pacing back and forth across my living room like a mad man, I am now downstairs trying to decipher what is going on through only half a conversation. Ok it's his father on the phone, ok there's been a car accident. Ok wait a minute, two car accidents...wait huh?
So Jes hangs up. I'm sure you are in as much anticipation about this now as I am.

So Jestyn's father Jimmy was on the highway today in MA riding his Harley to go to a VA Meeting. There was an unmarked state trooper in front of him in the left lane of the highway, Jimmy was behind him on his bike going 75 mph. There were three other cars behind Jimmy as well.
All the sudden the state trooper swerves violently. Jimmy sees him swerve, however it's too late to react to what he was swerving at.
There is a driveshaft from a MAC truck in the lane, in the middle of the lane. It is about 1 ft. long and 6 inches high. Jimmy hit it with his bike head on going 75 mph.
He is immediately launched right up in the air, tire shreds and blows out (front tire), wheel is crushed, oil pan looks like it was shot at with a machine gun. He LANDS the bike without dropping it (yes going 75), rolls to the middle lane, rolls to the slow lane, rolls to the breakdown lane.
The three people behind him all hit the driveshaft, each one of them just totals the radiators and front ends of their cars, they all pull over.
The state trooper comes running over to Jimmy, he is just like... OH MY GOD!!! He cannot even believe that Jimmy hit the thing, didn't dump his bike, actually launched his bike over it, landed and is still standing there!
    So what does Jimmy do.
Jimmy calls up Wendy (Jes' mom), tells her, hey I hit something on the highway, I'm at exit 16, come get me. No other details. Jimmy isn't much for details.
So Wendy, not really knowing what happened, gets in her car to go get him. Gets to where the accident scene is and freaks! She's in the middle lane of the highway and just pulls to the slow lane to get off, doesn't see a lady in her blind spot and sideswipes her! The other lady goes careening towards the people who were just in the accident, narrowly avoids hitting them and taking out what is left of Jimmy's bike. Now Wendy is freaking out and bawling because she can't believe she just did this.
Jimmy walks over to the lady Wendy hit and goes, "Hey nice driving there when my wife hit you." Really honestly meaning that.
Goes over to Wendy's car, "Hey Wendy, what the hell did you do that for?"
Then proceeded to have his bike towed, after the state trooper told everyone he knew what had happened because he was still in shock and took pictures to show his buddies. Jimmy got home, ate a sandwich and went to get chlorine from the pool, because you know, he needed some pool chlorine.
Jes hung up the phone and was just like... I think my dad is immortal.

Was he still on the bike the second time, when his wife hit the other person. I like the last sentence. Way to end a call. :)

Sounds like my own father. I got a call one day while I was about 25 miles away from his house:

"Hey! Is there anyway you could swing by? I need a ride."
Me: "Why? Did something happen to your truck? I'm out in BFE waiting on some parts."
"No.. I was working in the yard and got my fingers caught in the hedge clipper. It's ok if you can't make it here, I guess I'll just have your brother take me."
Me: "Uhm.. he doesn't have a license or learners permit yet"
"Eh, I think he knows enough. I'll be bleeding all over the place if I do it."

This man also has his fingers permanently broken on another hand.. because he wouldn't have been able to hold a golf club if the doctor had set them any other way.

They don't build 'em like they used to.

Cool story. Glad no one was hurt. Sounds like that could have EASILY gone bad.
