The amber section of the front turn/park lens on my 1980 400i Ser. 1 is fading. It is otherwise in perfect condition..I would perfer not to spend the 400Sterling on this if at all possible..Does any one here know of a transparent dye or spray -on solution for this condition..Thank you all so very much in advance..Jacques.

I haven't tried it but I've been told that the company that makes model car paint, Testors, make a "paint" for amber turn signals. A friend of mine said it was a very good match and should be applied to the inside of the lens.

Thank you all for the responses. Dave, I try to find a hobby shop the in the St. Pete area. Also i Googled clear lens paint and there is a Nipponese company that makes a paint purpose built for the job(Van's). I'll get both and test them for color match. I'll practice on some clear plastic soon. Dave, I hope that your vines are doing well..Jacques

    Hello Jaques
Polycarbonate paint No PS43 Tamiya apparently the one. Am just going to try this as I have tried everything else including vinyl heatgunned from the inside , mixing paints/varnish etc.
The Tamiya stuff is specially made for transparent models so should be right.
    Regards
    Alastair

As a side bar to the amber lens issue, I was able to secure that last 2 lenses in Ferrari's inventory world wide. These are the last 2 period. The left one was $1300.00 and the right one was $1700.00. They also have 1 new front bumper left for $1000.00. It is going to be very expensive for the insurance company, thank god its not mine...........................It seems that the guy that smooshed Candy's car has his wife as his insurance agent. How convienent.

Now the insurance company is up side down because the price of the parts. The adjuster does not understand that these cars are not standard throwaway modern junk and that the parts are not exactly shelf items. I don't think she could even spell Ferrari much less comprehend the expense and magnitude of the repair. I was also put off by her lip smacking gum chewing in my ear while on the phone with her.

They still want my insurance company to try and subrigate this claim, even though my car was parked and the guy backed into my car, go figure............

I tried this and it worked, painting the outside of the lens, I have since polished them clear.
