The Sunday of the Ferrari Saturday at Homestead. Years past went to Homstead on Saturday, drove to the Ft Lauderdale airport, flew to JAX Satruday night, dinner with friend, went to Concours on Sunday.

Amelia is incredible. If you can't go to Pebble Beach, you must go to Amelia. And if you can't go this year, plan on 2011. A well known FChatter will be there with at least one car.

    Anyone here going?

Most of the auction cars are in a tent on the lawn that with GA you can freely walk about. The auction super cars are in the auction tent. So if that is important to you, pay the $100 for the catalog which gets you in. I actually like to watch the cars line up outside the auction tent, waiting for their turn on the stage. You can see the cars running.

What parade on Sunday? Sunday is the day of the Concours. If you get there early, like around 7 AM, for free you can watch the cars line up to go onto the field from the back entrance in front of the hotel for the Concours. You also can get a closer parkiing spot. Parking is along the road leading to the Ritz, or in one of the remote lots that use shuttles.

Amelia Island Concours is one of the best car shows in the world. It not only has automobiles of Pebble Beach quality, it has a featured race car driver and the cars they drove every year. This year featured drivers are Sir Stirling Moss, Richard Petty and Don Garlitts, It has as many people but, it is more spread out and one can move around without bumping into other people. It is truly a remarkable show. We will be up front on the driveway entrance and I want all my friends to stop by. See you there!!!!!!

If anyone is interested, trying to plan a dinner between 7 and 8 PM near the Jacksonville airport Saturday night. I have friends that are doing Homestead Saturday morning, then flying to JAX late in the afternoon.

I believe it is a Chili's near the Courtyard.

    If interested let me know.

I'd love to join you but I don't know yet what flight I'm taking. I want to hit the FNA event at Homestead and then fly out of FTL. Let's see what flight I can get on.

I believe a friend of mine that is planning the same is taking the 4:40 flight out of FLL. ($202 RT). That is assuming the 599XX is confirmed for Saturday. If not, he will probably skip Homestead.

I've seen the rest of the cars, for me the 599 is the only reason to go to Homestead. Amelia is a much better show.

How bad of a drive is it from the airport to the event? The website said 20 minutes so I was thinking of canning it.

I'm an F1 junkie so the opportunity to see/hear them run for $10 is just too good to pass. Plus my BIL will be driving for FNA so I'll get a few laps in.

I hope to be there as well. Hey Marcel, hope to find you on the field Sunday! I've lined up an interview with Sir Stirling Moss as well. Looking forward to that.

This is the premier concours on the East Coast, if you are going for the amount and quality of cars plus competition cars to boot. If you have the means, make the effort to get there on Sunday.

    regards

From the hotel next to the JAX airport with no traffic it takes at least 40 minutes, maybe longer. Not sure where they get the 20 minutes, unless its the private airport on Amelia itself. That's within 10-15 minutes, not including the time to park or take the shuttle.

Also, not sure if you hear any of the 917s running that morning. Cars like that are often placed on the field the night before.
