I filled up with $2.35/gallon yesterday, about $.75 below the local peak immediately after Katrina.

They are practically giving it away now ;)

Rumour mongering by tree-huggers. Look for the upcoming Hemi-powered hybrid and Excursion-based two seaters. Movements in Congress for a constitutional amendment (finally!) to cap gas prices. And, since Starbucks now sells donuts, you can keep the SUV running while you run in for your tall skinny, half-caffe, soy mochachino latte with extra foam. The proposed gasoline driven cellphone has, however, been shelved for now.

You know I am in Star bucks now. 16oz of tea cost me $1.68!!!! If I buy lipton and make my own, about a Gal of the stuff would cost me maybe $.25 including water and power!!!! So why not just drop going to Star Bucks completely? They money you would save by making all your own coffee and tea would more than make up for the high cost of gas!!!

(BTW at the cheap cheap place on I-40 I paied about $2.90 for gas two days ago.)

I see the humor at Americans expense............

That's ok, I can take it.

I think the recent fuel issue has changed purchasing decissions. That's a good thing.........

Disaster?...Not hardly. Gas in the good ole USA is cheaper now at $3.00 per gallon than it was in 1950 at $0.19 per gallon when you consider that in 1950 the average worker made about $0.20 per hour so he could only buy about one gallon of gas per hour worked whereas in 2005 the avearge worker makes $12.00 per hour and can now buy about four gallons of gas per hour worked. Plus, cars in 2005 get a lot better gas milegae so todays worker can drive even further for an hours wage!

True, but the average American family did not have 2 cars at their household. Everything is relative, and back then, automobiles were for the wealthy.

I saw a guy doing that 'walking thing' about a week ago...I didn't know people still did that. I thought everyone just used they're 'human transporters' that they bought from Sharper Image.

As my parents say, "Can't worry about something you can't control." Tree huggers would love my family, 2 Tahoes, and Silverado and an Chevy Express Van. A Buick too, but that's another story. My family will just keep driving our "giant" vehicles and continuing to add to the "global warming" that seems to be the cause of all these hurricanes. That's one idea i will never agree with.

I will, in complete defiance, fill my petroleum fuel cell and make a worthless trip to Starbucks .

And you are right to not agree with it. The sun is going through an extra hot phase the last few years, even the planet Mars is heating up and its polar ice caps are melting. You can't tell me that NASA let the Mars Rover running all this time and that caused Mars to heat up ;)

Yeah, it's funny 'cause it's true! But I noticed they didn't mention anything about Americans being forced to walk to the dentist...:)

The fuel situation is dire here on the west coast. People are actually upshifting their Countaches at 3000 RPM instead of 7000.

God it sucks not being able to take curves at peak torque :(

Next I'll have to take the wing off to reduce drag :D
