If you don't already get Forza magazine, you may want to pick up the current issue #99 (which has the yellow Novitec 16M on the cover). It has a fine article on 1967 F1 chassis #003, which was driven by Chris Amon on a number of occasions. There is a superb photo of Amon in the car taken at Zandvoort, and plenty of photos showing the car today.

1967 was the last year of "purity" in F1: no wings, no ads, no stickers. Perhaps only the same year's Eagle-Weslake looked better than the Ferrari; I don't think that even the Lotus 49 could match its perfect look, including the gold wheels and "bundle of snakes" exhausts. Too bad it didn't go as fast as it looked!

And there is also a very poignant photo of Bandini in the sister car at Monaco, coming into Tabac just ahead of former teammate Surtees' Honda, and with the spot of his imminent demise visible in the distance.....

Here is a model of the sister car that Bandini crashed at Monaco. The photo was taken at the Ferrari Expo 2009. The model was only 8 inches long.

I will have to get that issue as I love the 1966 and 1967 312 Ferrari F1 cars.

I wonder why they didn't stick with the streamlined side-mirror fairing later in the season, especially since its effect at faster circuits might have been more noticeable.

I hope that someone does the '67 car in a 1/18 die-cast someday. (CMC, GMP, are you listening?)

I wonder if the drivers complained that the streamlined mirrors were useless and that it made things too dangerous during races with other traffic around?. Back then drivers used their mirrors far more than modern drivers.
