CAR Magazine October edition just published their Best Sports Car issue, and the F12 gets very high praise. While they did not race the cars around a track, they did comment on traction, cornering and handling. Seems like night-and-day different than the Motor Trend bunch. (Maybe the European cars are really better !?!) Ive attached a short clip. Sorry about the format that was the best I could do. Im sure they will have web editions shortly. I think its very difficult with the V12 Ferraris to go from reviews because it seems to me the journalists want these cars to be something they are not. I know we all want the information on the car. But it seems to me Ferrari builds the V8s as instant gratification sports cars so you feel like a hero after just a little driving and they truly are sports cars. The journalists who don't take them on very long drives, nor live with them daily are never exposed to the downsides of this setup. Whereas a more GT oriented car like the V12s their performance downsides are exposed more quickly but the benefits never come to the surface if you just take it to the track or a quick blast around the country. These cars are made more for driving long distances in relative comfort but yet still being Ferraris.
well said and i agree 100%. front engined v12 f-cars are quirky. thats why i love them but it takes time to warm to them for sure.
and someone else in the UK said the new GT3 was a tenth quicker at the track than the MP4 12C whose handling was described as 'aloof' compared to the GT3. Porsche certainly has a handle on handling! CH
I am eagerly looking forward to the battle between 458S and 911 GT3 (and eventual RS etc). Guess who wins these competitions? Those of us who love cars! We all win!
+1 and staying on track, the F12 is a masterpiece IMHO in terms of looks, performance, engine, transmission, etc.
