    Hello Gentlemen,

Upon my 2nd trip it Italy, it was apparent to me that the Italians are extremely proud of their Ferrari export and racing!

Now. My flame suits on, but a word of caution; this isn't to disparage Lamborghini owners, but I didn't see one, no, not one Lamborghini insignia anywhere. Ferrari's crest was displayed on Commercial vehicles rolling down the Autostrada, plaques made of inlay wood in Sorrento, as well as other forms of artwork. But no Lamborghini insignia's anywhere........

Just an observation, as I've travel extensively throughout Italy, including a Ferrari Factory tour upon my first visit.....

    All comments welcome.

    Thanks,
    Chris.

Probably bcus F is involved in F1 and has a long history in racing

When I was in Florence years ago they told me that pimps tend to drive F & L so they would drive MB & BMW

    wierd

Kind of odd. Lamborghini donated a car to the Italian police force...what did Ferrari do? You would think Lamborghini would get at least some recognition.

The wealthy tend to be a bit more low key in Italy. Skipping taxes is a national past time, the lower you fly below the radar, the better.

MBs tend to be taxis over there too.

Lambo never raced, and has barely a half-dozen models to its name. Plus, there has never been a more towering figure and personality in automobile history than Enzo Ferrari.

How could that compare to Ferrari?

Lambo has taken a very difficult challenge and done rather well at it, I would say, all told.

    Forza,

Maybe they're not too hip on them being owned by a German company plus the lack of racing involvement.

Lambo doesn't have near the history that Ferrari does there...

I'm sure the fact that Audi now controling them doesn't help them either. I know Fiat owns Ferrari, but Ferrari is independent with there cars... there is a lot of Audi in the current Lambos, but there isn't any Fiat in the current Ferraris.

When I visited Maranello, I was suprised how huge Ferrari is almost a part of their cluture there.

    Correct.

I think this thread is relevant to this also:
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=111565

^They talk about how Lambo is closely accociated with Audi, and Ferrari really isn't with Fiat.

I remember seeing results of a poll, back in the 70s, asking Italians who their most admired person was. In most countries the current leader would probably win, but in this poll, the order was:
    1. The Pope.
    2. Enzo Ferrari.
    3. The current Prime Minister.
So any man who was more admired than the country's leader was truly powerful.

Ferrari gave one of their cars (Enzo) to the POPE! I'm thinkin' da POPE is-a more popular dan da polizia! ;)

Ferrari has nothing to do with FIAT cars. FIAT group owns both Ferrari and FIAT auto, but Ferrari is independent of the car company. The Ferrari/FIAT connection is different to the Lambo/VW relationship were there is cross over between the two companies.

    Yep.

You'd be amazed at how many foreign plates show up on Italian cars during events...
