Hi Markus, Thank you for this clarification... Thank you also for sharing the information on non-intercooled boost. Best, John.
Correct. The improvement of the 86-89 turbo model was impressive, that's intercooled version is really a beast massively full of power, but the early 82-85 is not bad and it's by far the best looking car of the whole 308-328 family, with an amazing sound too. This morning I went to the mechanic shop with the 208 turbo not intercooled and came back home with the 308 drysump: The drysump sounds great, but the early turbo even more, in my opinion. Ciao PS You are doing a fantastic work on your silver scrap: It looks now there is a game...
Alberto, I totally agree with you on the differences in the overall experience of the turbo cars. The sound of a Ferrari engine is impressive enough as it is, however the turbo takes it to the next level. No need for an impressive car stereo when you have that kind of music... The symphony over your shoulder never gets old! Markus, The work looks fabulous and well worth the effort/expense. Best, John.
Hi Albert, I am UK based and looking to buy a 208. In your opinion is the 82-86 version better than the later 328 based ones with the intercooler? Do you know of any good examples for sale? Many thanks.
Well, I will try an answer, but please consider that it's just what I think: the 82-85 is better looking the 86-89 is faster and more reliable (the same as QV with 328) It's easy to find one (here in Italy), much more difficult is to find a very good one. For sale there will be very soon my silver 208 GTB turbo, but it's a fully restored car, very expensive. You can find others for much less, but often the cost of a good restore id very impressive. Please consider that all the 2 liters turbo cars are LHD. Here below some pictures, so you can have a benchmark. That costed 30 k euro of restore, and we started from a good car and not from a scrap. It will undergo the Ferrari Classiche inspection next week and will have the Cerificate. ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is one fine looking machine Alberto! It's going to be worth every euro when you sell it. First I'll have to rob a bank or two...;-)) Meanwhile in my mechanic's garage... Image Unavailable, Please Login
No, he's an independent mechanic specialized in all sorts of exotic cars from Ferrari, Lamborghini,Aston Martin, Porsche to whatever is worth a lot money. At the moment he's working on a countash and and lm002. He prepares cars for the Mille miglia and other events. He has 2 golden hands. The P4 is however a replica but all Ferrari parts. hey, are you going into bankrupcy just to say "my silver 208 GTB turbo is JUST A BIT (maybe...) better than Alberto's one"? How much does that fantastic work cost? ciao
No, I don't try to say that, because it would be a falsehood Not quite double the money as for the Schedoni 208 turbo Luggage set.
