So after about 6 hours of work, the motor is out of my 348. Thanks for all of those that have made DIY threads! I hope the cradle we built will allow the oil pan to be dropped, because I'm not a fan up suspending everything by straps. I also had my supervisor watching my every move as shown in the one picture below.

The only issue I had was a single black wire running through the passenger side ECU hole and to the starter didn't have a plug anywhere. I have no idea what it is, but I had to cut it. I figure I'll just add connectors to the cut I made so it can plug back together.

1500 miles in 11 years? What's the story as to why the car was barely driven?

I bought it from a guy in his 70's. Apparently his wife passed years back and he just didn't use the car after that. The car was very neglected.

Haven't gotten too far into it, but slowly chugging along. (2nd kid due June 22, so lots of honey-do's going on)

I'm waiting on getting the ring nut off and will be picking up a new impact gun today. Other stuff has been showing up almost everyday. Picked up some cat delete pipes from Superformance for $300 instead of the $800-1200 for 2 pipes. Also, as part of my major, I picked up some new wheels for $500 plus $200 shipping. The right rear wheel has a slight bend and the tires don't match front to rear, so if I'm going to fix a wheel and replace the tires, might as well buy ones I ultimately wanted now. I hope to get this thing running before Father's Day since the 2nd coming is due the day after.

So my new water pump came today and it's made by Capristo and has a metal impeller. ernie, I noticed in your DIY thread, you had another plastic one.

Yeah, I'm waiting for Ferraripilot to finish the 348 water pump, with the new scroll type impeller. Plus I am assuming mine is made out of the newer more durable fiber resin type plastic. Or at lease that's what I'm hoping.

I'm going to pull the oil pan and front cover today. Obviously I'll need to pull the cross brace. Other than the motor mounts, there isn't anything holding the frame rails together.

Does it matter or should I fab up a bar to connect the 2 front mounting points?

Leave the rear cross brace in place. The one under the gearbox. But yes, the motor mounts are "holding it together". I don't think you need to fab anything because they are bolted to the block and the subframe, and I thus shouldn't move. But double check it. If you have a cherry picker, you could strap the motor mount brackets bolted to the block, then relieve some pressure by slightly putting a little bit of lift on the cherry picker. Just enough to take a hair of weight off.

On our third design for the scroll now. Want to get it just right so we're testing quite a bit.

So what I'm understanding is that the new pump will be available in time for your next major?
