Well, after new belts etc., resealing the entire engine, converting the ac, new motor mounts, new shocks, and a custom paint job that took a little while, here she is. Not great photos, but theyll do for now - the top is black, the stripes are a kind of prismic ghost metallic, and the rest of the car is the original blue. Found out that a bondo artist had repaired my drivers side front fender a long time ago, so the shop had to source a new fender during the repaint...and fix a lot of rust. She is now much better protected from the elements. I decided to keep the phone dials and refinish them flat black (they were badly corroded and someone had painted the insides of the dials, as well as the fender arches, red!). So, purists can rejoice a little, I suppose. :) I'm enjoying driving this little car! Very well put together and very tight for a car with 91,000 on the clock. The previous owner installed turbo sway bars, so that helps I'm sure.

I still need a new 944 badge for the rear (on its way) and I need to do something with the interior, which is actually quite good but a little worn in places. Anyway, I'm enjoying the process!

You do -- having seen her in person (and this before the paint upgrade) I can attest to the fact that the stripes over dark blue look terrific. Wish I'd had the presence of mind to grab a few pictures during drive to Katie's.

    Looks good!
    So what's next for it?
I see it's got the early phone dials still too, mine had the star cookie cutters

Thanks for the kind words, guys!

I have some pics of when it was in the paint shop that I'll throw up here soon.

Unfortunately...Shes back in the shop!!! I took her on a business trip to Richmond VA yesterday, and as I was leaving, thick grey smoke started pouring out of the center ac vents. Now, I JUST had the ac converted to R-134, and it was working so well. I guess something in the controls gave up on life, and my partner and I had to make the hour plus drive with no ac on the hottest day of the year so far!! 96 degrees, baby! Also discovered the sunroof is stripped and not sealing, actually lifting over 60, so that will be fixed as well.

    Grrrrr!! :)

Her are a couple shots from the paint shop. The bumper had just gone back on and is a little crooked, and the emblems, etc. are off, but you'll get the gist.

Very nice. One of my all time favorite road cars that Porsche made, closest to the "on rails" feel I ever had with Porsche with out being heavy and still maintaining good road feel, also decent fuel mileage, and a working heater & AC. Very much underrated. Congrats.

Well...at some point I'll retire it from daily driving and make it a track toy. But for now, just an interior refresh and one day a V8!

The car drives so much better with the phone dials. SO much better. Looked SO good with the ill-fitting 996 turbo twists, though :)
