More Webers! This time mounted to my 1967 E-type, an engagement present from my wife. I've gone thru this car from stem to stern and with the exception of the gearbox have rebuilt everything at least once over the last 30 years.
Along with the new 308 these two are my forever cars. The Maser, the XJS, they come, get loved on, go on to others.. these two will stay. Bucket List stuff.
We could have gotten something different. We looked at 328s, 355s, 360s, 456's even seriously considered a 550. Chose that little 308 and I gotta tell you, I'm falling in love all over again.

As a fellow '67 Series 1 owner I do note a few things that make cause some problems with the Concours committee, primarily that the heater box gasket mounts to the air plenum on the bonnet NOT the heater box.. geeeze.

    Good eye Saabguy!
The E type shows in driven class... those Webers are considered a 'fault' in concours, never mind the headers, etc etc. A bit harder to spot is the fact that I had to rework the entire cooling system, including a home-made very un-concours expansion tank. All that being said, we got this engine up to around 325HP on the dyno after rebuild...and that was back in '83. Its held together, Webers and all, since then with only routine maintenance.
Aesthetics aside I will tell you this: the 265HP 3 SU configuration is much better suited to the handling characteristics of this now ancient design. Bear in mind that the steering and suspension represented the state of the road racers' art in the late 50's. As powered my E type can be a trifle unforgiving with injudicious applications of power. That said, the sound and responsiveness of those Webers is enough to make a strong man weep for joy.

Where did you source the intake manifold for this? If I may ask. Back in 1973 when I had my "E" I was told only a few of these where made so I gave up looking.

Pfffttt... all of the usual suspects sell them now as complete kits.

FWIW I got mine in a very fortunate swap in 1983; this is a Warneford manifold.
If you do find yourself converting over you will want to get a set of tuned headers and maybe free up the exhaust timing a bit. Additionally the stock Jaguar dizzy is suboptimal... I upgraded to a Mallory DualPoint and subsequently converted it to breakerless. The increased power will undoubtedly strain your already marginal cooling system. I ended up reworking the whole damn thing. Finally you'll need a new fuel pump and limiter valve in that Webers are exquisitely sensitive to fuel pressure.
If you take the plunge contact me and Ill try to be of help
