I was just patting myself on the back tonight for eating right and exercising, and shedding about 15 pounds over the last 4 months or so. I'll be 28 next month, single, and life is good.

Or so I thought, until I was resting in my easy chair, watching a Sopranos re-run, and ran my fingers though my hair and a couple of hairs fell into my lap.

Over the last month, I've noticed a hair here and there in the bathroom sink, but immediately dismissed any notion that this could be a real problem. My grandfathers both had a full head of white hair when they passed. My dad's hair is thinning, but he still has a full head. No way can I be losing my hair. My beautiful, thick head of hair.

I took a deep breath and approached the bathroom mirror. My fears were confirmed. The leading edge of my hairline is pretty thin. There are a few up there that don't have any friends living within 1/4".

Damn good thing I learned how to tie a noose in the Boy Scouts.

    No Funeral.

I have vowed to myself that if I inherit my fathers hair line, which is the absolute worst hair line I have ever seen, then I will shave myself bald.

I am only 18 and my hair has gotten thinner, the leading edges especially. I might be going bald also. If I were to run my fingers through my hair right now a couple of hairs would fall out.

Don't worry about it! You'll only make it worse. Thankfully you live in a day and age where hair restoration exists.

I used to cut my hair fairly short, but now I am growing it out. I haven't had a decent head of hair since I was in the 7th grade, so I want to flaunt it while I have it.

I've heard your hair genes come from the mothers side and you should get the hairline of your grandfather on her side. Don't know if it is true or not. Mine is falling out in different areas. Looking around online to find out about the drugs. I came across a website where people used rogaine and propecia and started growing their hair.

Nice to hear mate! Life is good!! :D:D

On your hairloss...............It IS inherited from your Mothers, Father. Your Grandad from Mum's side of the family. If he is bald, then most likely you will be too. Can vary in age. Some start thining at 20yrs of age, some older into the 40's. Either way, you are doomed so to speak. Just like me.........:(:(
The recent hairloss you noticed can also occur from your diet/weight loss. I lost over 30kg in one year of training and eating healthy. The same time I noticed my hair started to thin a little on top. I stopped losing weight, but kept the same diet when I hit my 'goal' and noticed hairloss slowed right down and only notice very little hairloss in my fingers/hat ect......
They reckon an iron deficiency is often associated with diet-related hair loss, a range of nutrient deficiencies can result in thinning hair. I take vitamin tablets now, which has probably helped my cause. Maybe you should try some of those. I use Centrum. I think its Australian, so you may not be able to get it over there. It has 29 'small doseages' of most important Vitamins. Good sh*t IMO. :):)

Just keep reminding yourself how many female trekkie fans Jean Luc Picard had. ;)

(24th Century, and they *still* can't cure baldness?)

I read that if you try to reverse hair loss early you have a better chance at keeping more hair for a longer period of time.

Unfortunately my family doesn't have the best of luck in that region. I know later down the road I will be investing in one (or more) of these:

I started losing my hair right after high school. I shaved it, and haven't looked back since. My wife cuts my hair now (close buzz), it looks great and I only take 5 minutes in the shower. I wish I would have done this a long time ago.

women in general and my wife in particulasr LOVE bald guys.

enjoy who you are and get on with your life. If some chick like you for your hair, how shallow is that. Lots bigger things that hair.

    Hair today, gone tomorrow.

Think of all the time you'll save and be able to spend with your Ferrari since you won't have to wash and comb it any more.

Trust, your Ferrari won't care if you have hair or not, but it may save you a 1/10th of a second a lap due to the lower weight factor. :)

    Ciao

Hurry up and get married...then it doesn't matter :).

I went through the same thing in my 20's.

Did rogaine - what a pain in the ass. Miss for a week and it all comes out...

Did propecia...worked great. Unbelievably well. Little Bo, on the other hand, wasn't liking it. He had a hard time :). Stopped it, and all was well.

The nice thing is, in your thirties you start to appreciate what you really look like, and reach a state of "happiness" and inner peace. I think a small beer belly looks good on a 30 year man...sexy even :). And a receding hair line is "classy." ;)

Propecia + Rogaine if pattern loss

Google telogen effluvium if generalized loss.
