Seems like Vatanen would have been the choice to better serve the interests of all matters FIA, while Todt prioritizes F1 and its interests? I admit I only followed this from arm's length and don't know the players beneath the surface. Agreed-we'll have to watch and see.
While I'd have preferred Ari and his "clean sweep" approach, I'm prepared to give the toad a chance. As Steve never tires of saying, a crazed gorilla would be an improvement over the previous lunatic..... He's been around a long time, seems to be pretty well respected in the paddock and at the very least can't be any worse. Furthermore, I don't think he's anyone's "lackey", particularly Mad Max's - He may have "played the game" that way, but I think he's "strong" enough to go his own way - for better or worse remains to be seen. As to "Ferrari bias", I don't think we'll see that either (at least any more than we always have!) - If anything I reckon he'll be harder on them than the others in order to appear whiter than white. Lets give the guy a chance? Cheers, Ian
No surprise....but i was really hoping for Ari, for some real changes...I guess we will still be stuck with all this cost cutting nonsense...
They're still around - From Autosport this morning: We'll see - But, I do think they've (FOTA) realized they do have some power and won't allow JT to **** things up like the crazy man did for so many years.....
Unfortunately the mental picture that immediately emerged after reading this quote was Jean Todt spanking Max as thanks for Max' endorsement. I don't see any way how this will not negatively impact Ferrari during the Todt era, as any decision that Todt makes will be presumed to be favoring Ferrari, or Ferrari will need to try extra hard to distance itself from Totd to the point where there becomes an acrimonious relationship, and Todt takes it out on the team to make it look like there is no favourtism.
Yes thats what I fear! although Fast Ian makes a good point. One hopes that Todt has been clever enough to have had Mosleys support only to win!! not to be continued, it was sure going to be easier for him in this farce of an election and thats precisely what it was. No need Dave I could have jumped weeks ago... it was that obvious he was going to win.. now wheres that whiskey.
as i said before...they will merely be calling the plays from the luxury box instead of down on the field...
Indeed. Note to Mosley:::: Max I would just like to say how much I enjoyed your leadership and goverance over F1. However we both know that that would be an complete and utter lie, so Sod Off and if I ever hear from you again, it will be a billion years too soon.
One of the biggest problems Max had was his ham handed manner. Even if Todt continues Max's policies we can hope that he won't behave in a manner that makes the sport a laughing stock. Welcome to the world of diminished expectations.
All I can say is that I would have felt a whole lot better if Ari had won. I still feel Mosley has unfinished business within F1. Call it a hunch .. Regards Quasimodo
No doubt that Max will exit just as he ruled. Completely without grace. BTW The second opinion was the same as the first. All I need to do now is decide who does the cutting. On the bright side Sarge is willing to continue PT with me in the tropics while on vacation
+1. There's too much pre judgement going on without any evidence to support it in any way, shape or form. If someone did this to you, you'd be up in arms at the injustice!. At least give the man a chance to prove himself!.
I agree with the point on Nigeria. They have a better chance of getting a Grand Prix than the US and should have more vote, or is that what you meant? Seriously, I don't think Ari ran an intelligent campaign. You can't attack the establishment when they are the ones with the vote. He needed to make some make some solid proposals on how he was going to chance things for the better, not just rhetoric, and play it cool.
To be fair to Nigeria, there are alot of Nigerian Princes who can no longer get their money out of the country via cheques because for some reason, no one trusts them anymore when they do a deal on a car abroad. So they may as well invest it in a Grand Prix
+1 Ari screamed and yelled while Todt kept mostly quiet and civil about the entire matter. Now that it is all finished Ari is pouting like the head cheerleader that did not get elected "Home Coming Queen".
If you mean by kicking and screaming is equal to asking for a fair and transparent election without bribing and threats to FIA members, then ok. The whole election was a complete and utter farce.
The same can be said for the US Presidential election. Ari did nothing to help his cause. Instead he made several personal attacks at Todt. All that did was create ill will to some of the FIA delegates that were doing the voting. These days to win an election it is not based upon your qualifications and or views. It is how well you wine and dine the people that will be doing the voting. Even if the voting was done by drivers and team members that compete in FIA events, I still feel that Todt would have won the election. Only time will tell if the right decision was made or not. JMHO
Flav was probably in the running for something in the future, but not in Mad Max's eyes. maybe there will be a turnaround on his ban, but he needs to work on the pause between brain and mouth IMO
