    yet just another ferrari .........
sigh......... Im a sick mofo, please check me in the hospital.

    Some impressions :

Jumping from my stock 430 into the 599, right off the bat, i feel like im in a luxury car, i can't ask for a better equipped car, minus the HGTE.
I thought the 4pt. belts would be hideous, but its awesome! felt like im going on a roller coaster ride when im strapped in. Everything inside the car is nice, lots of carbon, smooth leather, the thick LED steering wheel take some getting used to, and even the stereo is nice.
But dont think im ever gonna get the rear glass clean 'cause of the roll cage.

Car has immense power, but feels very much like my 612OTO in power delivery, it actually sounds and feels the same, just MORE!
The driving and suspension feel is similar too, just more feel and better than the 612.
Somehow, i feel the 599 is better and smoother around town, less po-going.
But these 2 really need to be kicked up the A$$ to be comfortable, the faster and more aggressively u drive, the better it gets.
Otherwise they lag around in city traffic helplessly making it even less desirable than the 430. Drive it like u stole it is the preferred driving style.

The power, sound, and handling are beyond my expectations, but on a fast right hand corner after a long straight i was surprised by the effort needed to steer long corners at high speed. It almost feel like the steering lost its power assist.
The front pushes so much, it really wants to go straight instead of ur intended turn.
Just takes some getting used to coming from a feather weight cornering machine 430, GT2s, or the relaxed over boosted 612.
I never had anything front engined with over 600hp, so i guess this is what they call dog-understeer.
Takes getting used to, so i will just muscle my way thru curves for now, (of course im going plenty fast).
Also i tried the slippery mode and the front black pieces under the bumper kisses the ground all too often, so sport is the preferred mode,
so it isnt too soft and wobbly.

The scuderia rosso color is the same as my 430, and i manage to find the same imperfections in the paint, some areas seem to be like car wash induced buff marks and shadows, orange peel etc, which is easily removed with a good waxing, but why?
Also the frame of the windshield has a little silicone black glue seeping on one section that made me think that this this is worse put-together than my 430. Also the c-pillar window frames look cheap.
Overall i have to say that the OTO program really addresses any quality issues too, because my 612 is PERFECT and this 599 has little rough edges.
Im a perfectionist, so u know....
2 hours in and i did my first mod, i took out the stupid fire extinguisher wrapped in gucci envy leather which totally obstructs the passenger's legs.
But need tools to remove the stand completely, can't believe what this **** costs too.

I spend the night going over the car and was really too excitied to be tired or sleepy, every little detail made me smile.
i dont think the overall driving feel of the 599 can be beat by the CGT or LP640 roadster. Nothing is this comfortable, fast, and still handles!
It really makes my 430 feel cheap, so on a sentimental note, i saw my 1st ferrari go too this night.

But what can i say about the 599?? After i finally drive it, I LOVE IT! plus it has ENZO in it!!! hahahaha!
and sadly, it does make my 612 obsolete........even the 599's trunk is bigger than my 612's!
Better tell my girl to go off the pill fast, so i can put kids in the back! kidding!!!

some bad cell pics first, before my pro ones later :

Congrats! Glad you made the 599 decision, btw you still in the Tien Mu area?

I attended TAS for 3 years, and now understand it's in Tien Mou, not Shi Lin....

If the OP [and congrats on your 599, as that is the one car I would love to own] would be kind enough to post the Google map link to the school, I would most appreciate it....I have tried doing so and, well, the town has changed so much [I was there in the 60's] that I can't make heads/tails of any old references.

    sincerely

Great post! I am going from a 430 to a 599 HGTE so I was very interested in your thoughts. Unfortunately, I sold the 430 and have to wait a couple more months for my 599.

Enjoy in good health and keep posting your thoughts!

Great car! I love the red tach, it really matches the exterior. I'm curious as to why you ordered the car with the roll bars, are they really necessary even if you intend to track it?

if u like toys and brute power, u gonna love it. But if u like handling and no body roll---> 430.
i really love everything about the 430. I would say its better then the 599, if it werent for the extra dough i put it! =)
the 599 feels like a AMG Bentley that handles a bit better. If u dont do any track work, u wont miss the 430 too much.
and if u do get HGTE, u'll love how urs sound like, because my stock one is already incredible!
"The LED lights across the wheel show" and "the backfire pops upon lift off" will cost me many trips to the gas station.

i hope u didnt order the fire extinguisher, because after taking my out completely today, there's a big ugly hole in the door sill.
oh, and i dont know if u ordered HGTE rims or mine, but if u do get challenge wheels, make sure u get the ball polished ones, they made a huge difference on my 612. And my 599 is in dying need of those, thats the only option i wish i had............ besides the HGTE of course.

"rigidity" in Chinese is a word that car guys here take darely, it translates to torsional stiffness in plain english.
adding that roll cage adds to the rigidity stiffness and hence make the car handle better and add more IN ONE PIECE feel.....
at least, thats what the dealer said .....

officially from ferrari, the books says : "it better protects the passengers". no ****.

I LOVE brute power! I also will be using this car as my Daily Driver....I don't track my own cars AND I opted for the HGTE, so Im pretty sure the handling will be pretty amazing. Will it be a mid-engined V8 or handle like one...NO, but I put 27K miles on my 430 in two years time, so Im ready for a change. I ordered my HGTE with the Challenge Wheels but not ball polished. I like the matte look a lot plus my car is Black which looks amazing with matte rims IMHO......I also didn't opt for the Fire extinguisher and Im REALLY glad now that I read your post that I didn't get it equipped with it!

I simply love my 430, but honestly, there is simply nothing like a big, classic 12 cyl Ferrari GT. I truly miss mine more than I like to admit--though admittedly, that big six speed gated shifter was a part of the loss. "Big block" Ferraris own their space like no other car, congrats and enjoy...btw I absolutely approve of the HGTE appointments.

and taiwan has changed much since then, the local authorized ferrari dealer is as nice if not better as those in beverly hills just less cars.

hmmmmmmmm....... if there's any chance of changing ur order to polished challenges, DO IT.
i took the courtesy to steal these pictures just for u, since urs is black :

and here is mine 2, they are totally different visually :
    http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv130/johns430/DSCF0132.jpg

just trying to help a brotha out.
I had mine for 2 days and already the plain one looks too bold/white/and in ur face, mainly it just looks too plain.
With the polish ones, they reflect light in a lovely angle that is both beautiful and make the spokes thinner and sexier at the same time.
before i had my OTO i thought the normal challenges look great but after u seen one in person, u WILL get them.
but u can always polish them later, especially at what the dealer wants for them.

or u can be a hero and do this :

    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=952206&stc=1&d=1244330205

hope u appreciate these from the picture post.
whatever u do, u can do them after, so good luck!
i had big mods planned for mine, like novitec lights and skirts, kresigg exhausts, etc. but after i took delivery, im very happy AS IS.

John- You made a wise decision and now you will reap the benefits. The 599 is a real car you can drive every day with no problems, is very reliable, and the odds of running up against something faster are very, very slim. Plus the looks are both very sophisticated and very masculine at the same time. Just about the perfect compromise between luxury and performance. Only wish I could afford one.
