WOW, the 'WING'; Andreas' favourite option does wonders.

I don't see another car in sight!

    j/k :)

Thanks Mike! I *LOVE* that second shot, absolutely awesome. Not because it is my car etc, but because it is a great shot. All the pics I took look as if the cars were parked, this one shows speed. Actually more speed than I had, because, yes it is true I was lapped. I didn't go flat out at all. First I had to lead the pack, which was bad enough as my temps weren't there yet, so I let everybody by to warm up the car. Also most of the cars in that field have done the track all day in racing, whereas I was feeling my way around. Call it excuses if you will, but I wasn't there to race, but to experience the track. Racing I do when there is no money at stake as in go karts.
    :)

While listening to the weather band that afternoon, I heard that the FAA issued advisories related to the micro-burst vortices being generated by Andreas' wing at speed.
    :D

    Just kidding.......

It'd be interesting to see its effects in a wind tunnel study. Some people have told me it can't have any effect as the air is "dirty" at that part because of the vorteces created behind the roof spoiler. OTOH 348 Challenge cars used wings in that area, but obviously a different car.

Not that it really mattered one way or the other...

    Hi A,
It won't be a "no effect" situation but not the most efficient area to use, the back lip of the roof, on a car with that sort of roof/rear deck relationship, would be a much more effective area to use to create downforce. The spoiler can be comparatively, 1/4 size or less to create the same level of downforce of a wing on the deck.

    Have you?

To my defense I can at least say, that towards the end of my stint I got the tires singing through the esses and I was reeling in the Alfa in front of me (he went to the pits so I didn't get the chance to pass).

I spent most of the day today at Gingerman with the 308...

too bad no pics or video... I'm sure my "lifting" at the end of turn 6, with subsequent 360 turn (about 180 on the pavement, the rest in the dirt/grass) complete with plume of dust would have been a hoot to see.
Took awhile to de-grass the rims and wheel wells...

If you are gonna track, Gingerman is the place to be. Almost NOTHING to hit if you go off the track... unlike Blackhawk. Never been to the ACC, however (ANDREAS.....!!!!)

ACC is beautiful... you should head out there with us one of these days this spring/summer. I drive my car on the track pretty much the same way I drive karts, so you guys will have something interesting to watch with me being sideways once in a while at the least :D

I'll drop you a line next time I hear of something coming up.

A colleague from your profession did manage to hit something, but that was while trying to get ONTO the track.

Anyway, next ACC event is June 13: FVM organizes a Lambo day on the South loop and Ferraris are invited.

I occasionally go to a morning conference at Resurrection Hospital on Thursday mornings. Has to be a special allignment of the planet for me to go, including : being off that morning, being motivated, and a nice day to drive.
